Hopefully things will get better

I fully understand your situation. After three years and three and half pages of issues we finally solved our Thor problems——-We now own a Winnebago!

A mantra to live by.
'pluck it out'.

It's the first advice I give to the terminally rv unhappy.
SELL IT.

But
Some people aren't happy unless they just aren't happy... So they keep their happily unhappy.

Congratulations on the decision.
Ultimately it was the only logical conclusion.

The turd Jimmy we had. Gone
That turd 2011 avalanche. Gone
The neigborhood we grew to dislike due to airbnb. Gone.
That sister with the self induced drug addiction. Gone.
Semi-Flat bottom boat too fast. Gone.
Gate opener with a mind of its own. Gone.
Man, if/when this rv pisses me off... Gone.

Life is too short; for wasting time on things (and people) that make you unhappy...

Wow Hopefully things will get better

I thought my experience was a bummer but nothing compared to yours. When you buy a new or used RV count on being ripped off. Add at least 50% to your initial cost for repairs and thievery by your dealer.

I do have one unique story, at least I think it is. You initially talked about water leakage over the cab in a Class C. Well I was headed north on I55 through Mississippi when the entire side of the cab fell off and was dangling and banging against the passenger window. It seems it had been leaking all summer without our knowledge. The entire superstructure was rotten and it finally gave way.

I had to find a friendly truck stop and buy several rolls of duck tape to put the cab back together. Took it to a local dealer in Missouri and he quoted me repair of $8000 with no guarantee of success.

Yes it was a Thor.. Now I have a Thor Vegas and yes we had several problem with it but nothing compared to yours.

October 2019
Purchased a used Thor Palazzo 33.2 with 5 year extended warranty
After first fill up while driving off the front windshield shade fell onto the
dash. The movie Money Pit came to mind. I found that it was being
held on with two very small screws that only had about one thread
grabbing. Replaced with half inch screws.

November 2019 Had independent repair shop do all maintenance
Purchase all new tires

February 2020 main slide started to strip

Late February In dealership and found that the motor rails were under
designed and bending into the wall causing the gear rails to strip
Lippert purchased Swintek and redesigned the rails for the larger slides
Do to Covid-19 shut down it took six weeks to get the communication
with THOR for the new part numbers. Dealership was shut down for
two weeks do to an employee coming in with Covid-19. Parts on order
and four weeks later the parts arrived. The parts were the wrong size!
Three weeks later proper parts were in, but only three gear rails were
shipped.

Early May we got the rig back. Going out, but after opening the slide four
times I saw the slide start to twist. Went and looked outside and the
rivets were pushing out on the exterior columns.

Late May back to the dealer. It took a week and a half to get the slide open.
The problem was caused by the reassembly of the slide. When
reassembled they routed the motor cable on the wrong side and it got
run over in the guide wheel jamming it. This required new columns to
be installed.

June got the rig back and it is now working well.

November went to Los Vegas to see my 89 year old mom. White knuckled it
back with big rigs and 47 mph wind gusts.

December 17 got it into an independent repair shop to have Koni shocks,
Safe-T-Steer, Roadmaster front and rear stabilizer bars, and rear air
bag isolators put on. Then will have the reg serviced again.

I think we will be fine now..... Remember it is an adventure that is mostly enjoyable.

Would you all like to read stories of
Gm Vega rot
Gm f body rot
Pinto
Northstar
61 corvette fuel injection
The back window of Studebaker Avanti blowing out at 120mph?

Or is this just for rv stuff?
Because it seems a narrow view to address rv's as if they're something different.
There has to have never been a lemon vehicle sold for this to be just a rv thing.
I'm thinking there are lots of lemon car returned cars.....
The Jimmy I referenced, when you flexed the frame either direction it popped at least one sometimes three, doors open. Like open. Like beyond the bear claw latch, and open. I've had a half dozen s10's only this Jimmy did this.

Life hands you things.
You love 'em or you leave' em.
Newell is a nice choice of rv.

Go to this forum thread about Thor acquiring Tiffin.
I don't think any comment has been made about how maybe a good study of Tiffin might enhance Thor quality.
Nope. Everyone is saying how Thor will drag down Tiffin.
THIS, beyond the slightest shadow of doubt, tells me thorn owners knew DAMN WELL what they were doing when they bought the lowest line rv they could.
We all put dollars before quality regarding our Thor purchase... On direct purpose.

(my Thor purchase was just sllligghttlllyy different. I fully intend it to be top of the line when we're done dumping $30kish more into it. I bought a kit with a nice Floorplan.
But
I knew the job was dangerous when it took it.)

You can plead purposed ignorance of not doing research or you can plead a price point.
If you didn't know, hey, that's on you.
If you had a price point and knew, hey, that's on you.
Theres a reason you own the rv you do.

From batteries to towing capacity, make it yours. The options are endless. Spend the money you wish Thor had spent.

2013 Can Am Spyder RT motorcycles were plagued with fires due to a design change leaving them with insufficient airflow over internal components...
Between that excitement, and a bad batch of front suspension components: that single model year almost took Can Am out of the market.
My point is that crap can simply just happen, and it helps if you're able to just roll with it.

Spyder

I bought a new Spyder RT in 2012. I have taken trips to WI., IL, Ak from MO. no problems except for needing to replace the rear tire after 25,000 miles. Now it needs brake pads. I won't worry about them until Spring.

2012 was considered to be the "best of the 998s"
2013 models showed up with the ne frame: but the old drive train. That combination proved to be a real problem. When the 1330 triple/6-speed setup showed up for 2014: that solved the problem.
