Joel

Hello Thor Forums,

I’m Joel and I’m a newbie who recently bought a used 2018 Thor Sprinter Siesta 24 SR. We took it on our maiden voyage and had a great time at a Michigan State Park. The park had electric but, we were running off the tank for water. I filled the tank to 70% before we left and all the faucets worked fine. But, when we arrived at the park the pump hummed but, there was no water. I got a 5 Gallon bucket of fresh water and switched the water valve to winterize and it pumped water fine to all faucets. But, when I switched it back to the tank mode, it seemed to lose prime and stopped pumping from the tank, although the pump still hummed and sounded ok to me. There is water in the tank. I do not hear a sucking sound it is quiet and no water. I tried the drain on fresh water & water came out confirming water in the fresh water tank. The pump is under the bed and everything seems tight and I don’t hear any air leaking and I don’t see any water leaks. I’m stumped! Anyone have any ideas on what could be problem. The motorhome is dead level. Thanks Newbie Joel

Did you open the water valve from the tank to the pump?

I don’t see a valve. Do you know where it is at?

Back near the freshwater tank and water pump. There should be a line that feeds the pump from the tank. In that line there may be a valve

Once you find that valve: I'm sure your issue will be "water under the bridge..."

Nope, I do not see a valve. The line must go straight up through the floor because there i nothing to access. The pump is above the tank under the bed inside the coach and no lines are visible except where it goes up to & through the floor. It’s boogied up with foam seal to the floor and into a compartment under the bed inside coach. No valve insight under bed. No valve in sight from the tank under coach. ?

Thanks Bob Denman,

Still trying to figure it out where there is a valve. It worked fine at home before I left & I haven’t touched or even seen a valve. It’s like the ‘elusive butterfly of love’ but, without the love! Lol!

If the winterizing hose worked ok pumping water out of faucets, then your pump is ok. You may have have a valve shut off to the tank or if you have a Y or T selector valve in the wrong position
Good job on your trouble shooting, eliminating etc. and describing symptoms.

Thank you for your input. And, I thank everyone else who replied to my problem. It is fixed. There was nothing wrong with anything except my Newbie Brain. There absolutely was a valve closed that was staring me right in the face. I forgot how to use it since I only used it once before I left for my trip. The mode selector was set to tank. I thought it was supposed to be set to this setting. But, Tank setting is when you fill the fresh water tank. I turned it to Normal & I heard water sucking. And a minute later I had water working in all faucets. I admit if I would have read the destructions, I would have known all along. I hope everyone gets a good chuckle from this one. Thanks again to everyone!

Glad you got it working!! Chuckles?? EVERYONE on this forum has had their share - my specialty is backing a new trailer into my outbuilding and bending the ladder... followed by burying a TWO-WHEEL DRIVE truck in my gravel RV driveway while backing my trailer in. Traded a one-year-old truck for a new 4x4... $$$ ouch!!! We've all been there...

We all have that moment where you are like why did I do that? Glad you got it figured out.

The OP stated that it worked fine at home before he left. Doesn’t work now at campground.

Do any of the water faucets work? Hot, cold? Kitchen, bath, shower, toilet? Could there be debris is the lines that is now blocking the screens?
