Smile Just fully renovated the shortest class A - Also generator issue

Hey guys, this is my first time on this forum.

I'm 36 I live in Chicago, I bought a piece of crap class A Flair, 22' long, I think it's the shortest class A ever made. I bought and redid the inside and outside for the last few months. Nothing worked so I had to fix everything, I'm not a mechanic or anything but I have some decent prior knowledge on cars and real estate flipping etc.

THE ONE last issue I can't figure out how to fix is the generator. I have an Onan 4000, and it'll start and run but AS SOON AS I release the start button, boom it dies right away. Anyone has ever had this issue? Sorry if it's already been posted and solved in the past.

Thanks guys and I'm happy to be part of this little community

Wow, big change!

The Onan will not continue running if the controller does not see proper voltage and/or frequency output.
It will also not continue running if it senses a low oil level condition.

The control panel should indicate a code as to why it shut down to help you narrow the problem:

Quote:
What to do if my Cummins Onan generator blinks 3 times?

Your Onan generator wonít start and the light blinks 3 times again and again. When the light blinks three times in a row, it is indicating a service shutdown. You need to get a secondary code from the generator.

Press the Stop/Prime button 1 time to prompt a second, two digit fault code. This secondary code consists of two sets of flashes. The light will blink a certain number of times and pause before blinking a second number of times. A second pause follows before the code repeats itself. For example, the relatively common code 36 would be represented by 3 flashes, then a pause, then 6 flashes, then another pause before the cycle repeats itself.

Following is a list of the Cummins Onan HGJA fault codes.

Code 2: Low Oil Pressure

Code 3: Service Check

Code 4: Over Crank

Code 12: Over Voltage

Code 13: Under Voltage

Code 14: Over Frequency

Code 15: Under Frequency

Code 19: Governor Actuator Overload

Code 23: Low Oil Pressure Cutoff Switch

Code 27: Voltage Sense Error

Code: 29 High Battery Voltage

Code 31: Overspeed

Code 32: Low Cranking Speed

Code 35: Control Card Failiure

Code 36: Engine Stopped

Code 37: Invalid Generator Set Configuration

Code 38: Over Current (Field Overload)

Code 41: Generator Rotor

Code 42: Processor

Code 45: Speed Sense

Code 47: Ignition

Code 48: Generator Field Sense

Code 51: Processor

Code 52: Fuel Injector

Code 54: MAT Sender

Code 56 MAP Sender

Code 57: Over Prime

Code 58: Exhaust Gas Temperature Shutdown

Code 81: Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor Open

Code 82: Exhaust Gas Temperature Shorted

Welcome to the forum.

Have you posted your issue over on the Fleetwood Forum to see if anyone over there has had a similar issue?

Probably wouldn't hurt to buy a tune up kit from Amazon and change the oil, sparkplug, and air filter

One other possibility on top of the ones already provided. If the fuel tank is 1/4 full or less, a safety may not allow it to continue running so as not to deplete fuel so the engine cannot be run.

And very nice job! Post some interior pictures and any other before / after shots you may have.
