Smile Just picked up our 2016 Thor Axis 25.2

Hello from the Midwest! We just picked up our Thor Axis 25.2 this weekend and put it in indoor storage, just as our first big snowstorm hit.

In the past we had experience with truck campers and trailers, but this is our first motorhome. We can't wait to try it out in a few months.

Our plan is to take a few short trips this summer to learn the ropes. We are hoping to semi-retire next year so we can start taking longer trips to enjoy the country.

I've already downloaded all the users manuals on the Thor website for our model. I also downloaded and read Ed's users manual. After looking at it, I noticed it seemed familiar to me. Then I realized that Ed had also generously written one for the TrailManor that we previously owned. It's a small world! Thank you for writing these manuals for all of us, Ed!

Thank you all in advance for your advice, stories, and inspiration!

Congratulations. This is the same unit we purchased and have done short trips for the last two years...

One thing I can't stress enough is GET A TIRE ALIGNMENT at a good commercial tire center. I was fighting the VEGAS on each trip until the alignment. Since the alignment the coach has been a joy to drive.

The second is start your generator at least once a month (and make sure you have STABIL in the gas tank) Every two weeks is even better. We started ours about every 60 days during the winter and ended up spending 800.00 replacing the carb with Cummins. Carbs are not included under warranty.

Other than that we love ours!

Welcome, there are a lot of knowledgeable folks in this forum that are willing to share remedies that worked for them.

I have also come across, some reading of threads, where people get persnickety if you ask under the wrong group category, lol.

I don't care, but I think you would get more exposure, if you posed your Q, in the proper heading group of threads.

Congratulations. Now stay off this forum or these guys will have you spending money on mods you didn't know you needed or wanted.

I think my husband insisted on getting an extended warranty just so I can't do mods. As an engineer, I am always thinking "How can I make this better?"

Well that didnt stop me - too many impovements need (IMO) and I found out that most of the small things was just easer to fix myself.

The only time you mods would matter (under warrentee) is if they caused the issues that need addressing.

Camping world wants the RV for a week to order stuff, then bring it back in 3 mo later and it takes another week to fix the small stuff. Then the killed my two house batteries (wouldnt replace them) and left me with a dirty RV (inside and out). And all of this in the first 9 mo of owner ship on a brand new RV.

So I just do it all myself.

Sure if the frig or AC go out I will bring it in if the warrantee covers it but otherwise Im never going back.

Oh don't worry the mods won't stop when the warranty ends (of course they also start before the warranty begins too ! ).

There's only about two things that make the spending stop:

Bankruptcy
Death at the hands of an enraged Spouse...
