Medical travel assistance

We just joined Good Sam roadside assistance for our rv and was offered medical assistance too?
Is this something most people are getting?

I can tell you that we took it...
But...
You should consider what sort of problems your health might present, while you're out on the road, and base your decision on that.

No.

And it's useless in an emergency because you have to get "prior approval" for that lifeflight helicopter. Check the horror stories about this GS coverage on the Internet.

I have it, not that that's makes a difference. However there are a few of the medical asset companies out there. One being the GS the other that comes to mind is SkyMed I even think the VFW has one offered. I went with GS for the benefits and the cost. Yes you have to get a pre approval before things happen, but then you have to get pre approval on your heath insurance before things happen also.

We got it mainly incase something happens to me. That way my wife does not have to worry about how to get the rig home or taking care of the dog. That kind of stuff.

I believe that Good Sam will also help you to get your RV home, if you are unable to complete your trip due to a medical emergency.

Medicare covers nothing if you are out of the country and most Medicare supplements do not either. Few, if any, regular medical insurance policies will pay for a flight a hospital to your home either escorted on a commercial flight or by private charter. It can cost thousands or even tens of thousands of dollars, Policies like EA+, like I have, cover all that as well as getting your RV home. I need no pre-approval, nor do I even have to tell them I am going on a trip or out of the country. If you only use your RVs on weekends, 100 miles from home, you probably don’t need it. If you travel long distances for long periods of time, especially out of the country - even to Canada - it is cheap insurance.
