Modifications to my 2010 Thor Chateau 23S
I purchased Valkyrie (aka "Val") last month, June 2020. I will be in it full time for the next few years, if all goes well.
The first issue was the size of the bathroom. It boasts at tiny 22" x 32" shower in the back with a folding accordion style plastic door in place of a shower curtain or pivoting door. The width of the shower is 22" and let's just say I am a girl with curvaceous hips, and that 22" doesn't quite cut it. The bathroom also has a sticks-out-like-a-sore-thumb sink and vanity between the shower and the toilet. Lastly, sitting on the toilet, your knees virtually hit the door. It's a ridiculous design. I need a bigger shower, and a more comfortable seating arrangement when I'm on the throne.
So this coach has the ever-hated rear corner "Queen" bed. How funny is it that they have the gall to call it a queen when it's 4" shy of being a full size bed. A better size name would be "jumbo twin." Anyhow, in that configuration, you have walls on either side of the width of the bed, no way to have a night stand or anything nearby. Very claustrophobic in my opinion. Most of the space underneath the bed is open storage underneath the coach. In fact, the interior flooring goes right under the bed and becomes the floor of the large storage space underneath.
I was wiling to give up the large underneath storage to have more square footage inside. Here are photos of what I've done so far with the help of a friend.
