Thinking Class A

Hello from TN. Looking at Challenger 37KT.

I had a class A and never again. Hard to get places to work on the chassis and the dash, wiring is done to the same quality as the rest of the RV.

For me class C. Ford dealers will service most of it and all the stuff that day ives it down the road were done at ford with quality control.

Suggestion.....Buy an older class A (or C) that is what you THINK you want,(ie: floor plan, galley, sleeping layout,water capacities) learn the ropes as a rookie will, and Yes you will make booboo's .... We ALL have... THEN after seeing first hand what works (and does not work) for your usages.. peddle the old one and THEN buy exactly what you want/need.... been there & dun that! Happy Trails

The 'A' vs 'C' choice is personal preference - and you will see people favoring either...

We went shopping for a used class C back in 2010ish - and test drove a Class A while we were there... We bought the used Class A that week - and its worked great for us...

We moved up to a 2014 Class A (slightly used) in late 2014 - a little more length - and slides as we were shifting to living 3-4 months straight in it (winter in FL).

Many different floor plans to choose from - look around and see what works best for you and your needs - and of course ask any questions we can help with.

Same with us. Dead set on a Class C on the Mercedes Sprinter chassis also because of turbo diesel. Drove it. Did not like the way it drove and felt. Drove a new Axis 24.1 and immediately liked the difference. Figured that if it wasn't fun to drive, there was no point in pretending it was. Personal preference.

had a 31 foot class C, now a class A love everything about our Hurricane! I agree it is personal for sure. Good luck!!

In that size range there are no regular Class Cs. It's either A or Super C.

I expect you may know that, so are you asking about RV types or 37KT in particular?

Welcome to the forum! You didn't say if you have an RV now, or the Challenger you are looking at is new or used.

We have only had our Challenger GT for about 3 months and logged just under 2,000 miles so far. We are fine tuning the handling of the coach but overall couldn't be happier.


I won't comment on comparing Class A's to Class C's because there is nothing in your original post that would indicate your interest in that.

We love our Class A RUV Axis .. it meets all the requirements which we had on our wish list based on *previous experience* .. a must ! Shop, shop, shop...take notes ... make sketches and notes of what you like in everything you look at ! Welcome to the forum! You dropped a very broad question, with no background information. You'll get better advice if you share more about how you plan to use it. Motorhomes are like shoes, different types for different uses, and what's perfect for one is all wrong for someone else.

What was the right RV for us a few years ago wouldn't be right for us today. We owned a 33' Class A, a 5th wheel, a 33' travel trailer and a 21' Class C, all for several years each. Each of those were right for us and our travel needs, until they weren't. For us for now, and the way we travel, our 2016 Vegas 25.2 is our Goldilocks coach, not too big, not too small, just right. Your results will vary.

So many good comments. Thanks. We have gone from tent camping to a 31ft travel trailor and now have a 42ft 5er. The 5er meets all our needs and is really perfect for us. We are entertaining going on extended trips in two years. We are considering a Class A because it just seems easier to get into camp sites. The Challenger 37kt floor plan is the only Class A plan we both like. Thanks again for all the input.

If you are looking at the Challenger I would say look no further!!! Beautiful coach with great lay-out!!! We traded down from a Tuscany to a Windsport after moving to Dallas. We had room to park the Tuscany at our previous home but not here. I wanted a Challenger, but again, no room to park here. My best friends in SC have a Challenger and love it, only a couple of minor issues which he fixed.

Nice thing about a class A, is being able to move around while on the road. Stop and use bathroom, get a drink, or make a sandwich. My wife sits up front for a while, then goes to dinette, maybe stretches out on the bed and reads. Can't beat the convenience while traveling!

To everyone who has a Challenger, I'M JEALOUS!!! Lucky Dogs! I need s bigger parking spot!

Regarding ease of getting in and out of campgrounds, most owners of Class As that large end up towing a toad. Unless you've ruled that need out, you may want to include one in your comparison.

Like SuperD said, having access to stuff in any motorhome while on the road is great.
