Unhappy Plumbed Backwards

I have a 2019 32.2 THOR MIRAMAR that when dumping the tanks I found that the gray and black valves are backwards. Come to find out the plumbing from the tanks is backwards. The black tank is piped with 1 1/2” pipe and the gray tank is piped with 3” pipe. Can this be repiped from the tanks easily. Has this happened to anyone else?

Thor fixes many things AFTER warranty expiration. Being out of warranty is a reason to ask here instead of just letting Thor fix it.
What did Thor say?

How do you know they're plumbed wrong?
We need a scenario where you give us the details of your decision and why you haven't contacted Thor.

Well I’m a retired Plumber and believe me it’s piped backwards. We are living in it for the next five months. It doesn’t seem to get clogged up but want to get it fixed after our journey. They said I will need to get it to a dealer to confirm and get pricing. It’s 1 month past the warranty. I did buy the extended 5 year warranty.

I have personally witnessed Thor authorizing repairs for units far far out of warranty because the problem was obviously their mistake.
I have had Thor do warranty work on a used unit.
Be very nice to the dealer you wind up at, and watch nice things happen in return.
Also have a complete of other items needing fixed/parts ordered and get them all done at once.

I'll bet dollars to dog doo they happily fix it.

With your professional background, Why the question about repiping it?

I'm asking these things because Thor often(maybe always) routes at least one gray water source into the black tank. Just because the black tank is filling with gray water doesn't mean it's backwards.
It means it's backwards only if the gray water valve is closed and the gray water tank fills with doo.

Wondering about the adaptors attached to the tanks. If they can easily be removed without having to replace the tanks. I’ve had THOR send me replacement parts before on other issues and I’ve done the work myself. I may end up doing it myself if I don’t have to remove and or replace the tanks. Thanks

With a five year extended warranty: you should be good to go for this "correction".
Good luck!

My fittings to the tank are simply clamped on.
Can you see the connection to the tank?

While you're under there, if you'd like a good scare, look at the potentially only two wood screws holding the whole tank up.
I'm putting straps on mine.

Smile

I’m new to the forums and now see that I should have posted this in the maintenance and repair section. Thanks for the welcome.

I do see the clamps but also the adaptors are caulked as well.

The dealer will fix it all.
They'll have intimate knowledge of plumbing fittings.
I wouldn't worry about any of it.
Its an easy repair.

Welcome to the forum. My suggestion would be to fix it yourself. If I was retired plumber, I would much rather do it in a couple of hours and know it's done right than leave my coach at a dealer for who knows how long waiting for Thor to maybe approve the work.

Thanks Lt, I feel the same way and that’s probably what I’ll end up doing. Who would ever think to check that out during my walk through inspection when we purchased. Customer service has been excellent so far.

I agree with some of the previous posts.... if you e-mail or call Thor Customer Service, they will fix this for you at no charge.

They will ask for some pictures or videos... if possible... documenting the issue but they will get this into your record and fix it at your convenience.

Why did it take you over a year to find this out?

He could have bought a 2019 leftover last week...

The see thru waste elbow told me that doo was coming out when I released the grey valve. My assumption was that the manufacturer installed the valves on the wrong side. Everything works and I was just going to switch the valves myself but when I was going to do it I decided to look at the plumbing schematics and lookup and behind the valve panel. What I found is the wrong size plumbing. The reason I waited was just never got around to doing it but now I’m retired I have a lot more time. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem. If you don’t have a see through fitting you wouldn’t know you have a problem at all until you got clogged up.

He said in post #4 that it is one month past the warranty.
