THOR #2515
New 2016 Four Winds 35SK Super C Owner

We're new Thor owners, but not new to RVing. We traded our Class A for the Super C - easier to work on. No more lifting the bed to get to anything and taking hours to work on it.

So far, we're only experiencing fit and finish issues like most new Thor owners. We need to go back to the dealer to replace the bathroom door and frame - not square; one kitchen cabinet door not square and the top kitchen drawer, not built correctly... it's not square and pulling the molding out because it isn't built right. We pulled some Styrofoam insulation from the A/C ducts. We also had to put in some weatherstripping along the automatic 'attic' fan - it was a terrible fit as you could see the roof, insulation etc in the gaps. Bathroom fan install/fit was just fine.

Yes, I know we spent a lot of money, and I wish it was better quality in the fit and finish. But, we're hoping that these minor annoyances are all that we have.

Some other points about the new 2016 - our F550 is an XL not an XLT as it's advertised by Thor; and we only have the two track (one on the top/one on the bottom) Schwintek slides - even though the 2016's are supposed to be the 3 TRAX system, ours is not. Probably not so important on the 35SK, since we don't have the WHOLE wall going out with a kitchen in it, but you may want to check before you buy. Also, we use slide supports under our slides to minimize movement and any possible cantilevering.

I'll update the post as we see anything else... installing shelf paper today before we move the stuff from the other coach back in

I just have one question so far for any other Super C F550 owners... I got two sets of privacy curtains, (yes two) - but how do I put them up? I don't see any Velcro fasteners anywhere in the cab so I can attach them. Any thoughts/suggestions or work arounds would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Julie and Keith

You should find round black colored Velcro pieces about the size of a nickel screwed into the black rubber gasket the surrounds the windshield. They are hard to see at first but if you pull back your sun visors it will be easier. The second curtain should be for the cab over bunk but I'm not sure where they attach. I would think it would be the same round black Velcro pieces. Maybe they are on the ceiling?

Thanks - no luck...

Thanks for the suggestion; we saw the two in the back of the cab area on either side in the narrow area where you walk through... those are the only two. We have the TV instead of the bed, so there aren't any up in the bed area either.

I forgot to mention you should also have Velcro pieces screwed into black rubber gaskets over driver and pax door

Interesting
I have the similar non-superfloor plan and only had one curtain.

Most of my velcro buttons were missing. I think the ones on the inside bulkhead were the only ones..... and maybe one along each side. Those along the top edge of the windshield were not there (although there were holes where the screw would attach)

I called Thor Customer SVC and they dropped a handful of them in the mail to me.

They aren't just standard velcro, some sort of rigid disc.

On my older coach, the black velcro buttons are attached to the trim piece above the windshield and over the side doors - not into a rubber gasket. I suppose it is variance in different years, but nonetheless a mickey mouse solution.

We have found though, that just tucking the curtain under the forward bed (over the cab) and letting it hang down works just as easy.

Recently, we bought an aftermarket windshield/side window cover that installs from the outside. We use that if we are going to be somewhere for a few days, but still just tuck the other curtain under the forward bed if just somewhere for an evening.

I think the 3 Trax system is only used on the full-room slides, not the shorter ones. Only the full length slides using 2 racks seem to be the ones having problems.

We have a shorter slide and have had no issues. Still, we only use the slide when we are absolutely level.

There has been occasion where I could not get the coach leveled to my satisfaction, so we did not deploy the slide. Fortunately though. our coach can be adequately used with the slide in.

It is a bit cramped with the slide in, but we can "tough it out" for a couple of days that way... after all, it's better than a tent.

Thanks for feedback

Thanks for the feedback... I think that we're going to get a windshield cover to by-pass the whole curtain thing. I will ask the dealer for some of the disks though.

You might want to consider one of these: Heatshield.com
They make custom fitting windshield and side cab window sun shades for the E-350/450 and the F550. I was going to get the exterior vinyl cover until I realized I would have to dry it off or clean it every time I used it. I've used Heatshield for over 25 years for all my cars.

Great tip

Thanks! I'll definitely check it out. I found a cover on EBay for about $20 that should fit. We only need it when we're camping. And if it doesn't I'll put it on my F250
