Just bought my first MH - have had 5th wheels for years. So far love it. Looking for advice on best TOAD and any mods any other Windsport owners have found useful.

Thanks!

Congratulations and welcome. Make sure you get an alignment--the first mod any Thor motorhome owner should do.

Just search around tons of mods everywhere on the site. Everyone seems to be inspired by everyone on here regardless of model (e.g. most have couches and you'll find many that have replaced the couch with recliners, a new bed, standalone chairs, a dinette, etc.). So don't limit yourself looking for mods for just your unit.

The best toad is the one you like--opinions will vary greatly. Jeeps are popular as a toad.

How do you want to tow the toad? 4 down? dolly? The ultimate: a fully enclosed trailer? (then you can use a model T as a toad--why not they don't weigh much )

For us: We dolly tow so we can pretty much tow anything that is front-wheel-drive. At the moment we've been towing around my C-Max Energi (which also can be towed 4 down like the other Ford Hybrids: Fusion Hybrid, Fusion Energi--for 2019 it got a 5 mile bump in EV range to a whopping 25 miles (yeah sarcasm there LOL), and Lincoln MKZ Hybrid). We've also towed my wife's Escape with the dolly.

Congrats and welcome to the forum! We have a similar model that is a couple of years older.

We also dolly tow our FWD Jeep Cherokee, we dolly towed a Jeep Renegade before that. On our previous motorhome, we towed a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4-down. There are no right or wrong answers, just pick the vehicle you like and go from there. There is a towing guide that you can find online that lists all models that can be flat towed. Pretty much any front wheel drive vehicle can be dolly towed.

As far as mods, you may want to read up on the CHF (cheap handling fix) as that helps to prevent sway and lessens the impact of wind and passing semis when on the road. We also added solar to our rig to help us boondock more efficiently (use less generator) and added a satellite dome and a number of things inside. Check the thread for Jerry's Hurricane Mods for more ideas - the Hurricane and Windsport are sisters.

Most of all, get out there and enjoy!!
