2017 ace 29.4

We upgraded from a 2016 Chateau 24C to a 2017 ACE 29.4 on December 31, 2016. We took delivery on January 2, 2017.

We have just returned from our second trip. We enjoy the outdoor kitchen and tv. The king bed is very nice.

Last year we put 19,000 miles on the Chateau and look forward to many adventures in the ACE. We plan a trip to AZ in March.

We are the new owners of an ACE 29.3 and also planning an AZ trip next month. We are planning to attend the FMCA rally in Chandler camping 5 nights. Enjoy your new home!

We just took delivery of our new, 2016, 29.4. Apparently you spent loads of time in yours...how did you like it, any issues, etc.?

We've only been on a 4 night shakedown cruise so far, and we LOVE our coach and all the features built-in. That said, we're still working the bugs out prior to our AZ trip. I could post quite a list of little and not so little things, from interior cosmetic scratches to grille whistle to having the slide not retract the last 6" during our last overnighter! We have another trip to the dealer to hopefully correct the last of the issues on 2/20 prior to our big trip.

AndyT1183 Thank you for the post. We love our 29.4. We have only spent 10 days in this coach. On our stay at Lake O the Pines we had temps of 25 above. We did not have any issues.

Justjohn57 Thank you for the posts. Our coach also has a whistle. The forum states Thor will correct that with a new grille. We have not had any major problems yet. We will keep the forum updated with any issues.

After we picked up our coach we had the whistle at about 50 mph. I adjusted the engine hood, which was way off, hoods fits better and no whistle. Later, after reading numerous posts I called Thor and they sent me a roll of black expanded metal. I haven't had time to install the metal but with smaller holes it should make a good rock and bug guard.

I just brought home out new 2017 Ace 29.4 (this is my first post here!). We love the RV but there is a loud annoying squeal that occurred constantly at speeds between 50-69 mph. Have you experienced this? I read another post where someone suggested it could be rain related. We did bring the RV home in the rain but today the sky was clear but the squeal remained.. Does anyone have any advice?
Edit: I just noticed the previous posts about the whistle (sorry, I'm new here and just learning my way around). Has anyone tried a new grill? Does it help?

Moon, the squeal/whistle you hear is probably the grill and or hood. Try zip tying a piece of window screen behind the grill and see if that helps.

Congratulations on your new coach, hope you enjoy a lot of safe and happy miles!!!

Moondoggie,

Congrats on your new purchase. We have the same noise issue. We have not had time to fix it but have found the forum a great resource for fixes.

Thanks. I'll be working today (sigh~) but I have some screen at home and I'll give your idea a try this evening. Your suggestion makes a lot better sense to me than my wife's idea, which was "Just turn the radio up."
Ha! I'll let you know how it turns out.

Or my dealer's suggestion to remove the grille. We're still waiting for the right one to show up, since Thor sent the wrong one the first time.

This is a late follow up but... I contacted Thor industries concerning the whistling from my factory new RV's factory new grill. I explained the problem and at first they acted as though I was trying to con them. But then they took my VIN number and I guess they ran it through their computer and it showed that I was in fact the new owner of this new vehicle. When they came back on the line they were very pleasant. I confirmed my mailing address and they sent me a new grill (which was really only a thick rolled up screen). I unscrewed the old grill, unrolled the new screen then fastened the screen where the grill had been. No more irritating whistle, no more irritated customer!
