New to everything!

My name is John and as it says in the title I am brand new to all of this. Bought my very 1st RV, a Thor Rize yesterday. I am in the honeymoon stage I guess. I am 67 and will be traveling with my wife if she lets me. I hope this forum will be a good source of information as I certainly have lots of questions.
One question I have right off the top concerns snow. We are expecting several inches here in MD and for a while here until provisions are made to get it under cover it will be exposed. Is this a problem for any of the equipment on the roof?
Greetings to you all and looking forward to any advice. John

Welcome to the forum John! Enjoy your stay.

There will be no ill effects in leaving the RV uncovered in the snow. Just like a car, it can handle whatever weather is thrown at it. Probably wouldn't want it caught in a hail storm though, just like a car.

Look up
Winterizing an RV
Or keep a thermostatic heater running in it at all times.

Thanks ducksface for the advice......is that really an option to keep it plugged into my house and keep a heater in it? I run to Florida several times a winter and was dreading getting all the water out each time I came back to freezing temps.

Congrats and welcome to the forum. Winterizing and then de-winterizing several times might be a pain, but it really doesn't take that long, and NOT doing it will cause major problems.

You can always winterize it and still use it to travel. Just don't use the water/plumbing system(shower/sinks) with the onboard water tank or city water lines. You can take along bottled water to pour into the toilet when it is used and bottled water to drink/wash with. Once you get it back home you just have to pour some pink rv antifreeze back into the drains(sinks/shower) to fill the traps and then drain/flush out the black/grey tanks. I would also pour some pink r v anti freeze into the black and grey tanks when it is sitting. I would also look underneath to see if any of the plumbing lines are exposed to the outside and cover/wrap them with insulation for protection. I did wrap my black sewer lines for winter travel protection.

Yes,
It's just a portable heater. $12 to $300 your choice. 1500w is 1500w regardless of price.
The chances of it causing trouble are about 1:10,000,000.
1,000 choices on Amazon.

A billion+ sold and used over the years.

We have running in ours right now at the windshield shop.
