Hey all. New to the forum and to RVing ! My wife and I are recently retired, and living in the hill country of Texas. We welcome any suggestions that may come our way relating to RVing.
We recently bought a 2017 Thor Outlaw 29H to carry our CanAm, and dog !

Ran across a bit of a problem with the entry door handle/latch mechanism. It broke on the inside. The "plunger" that slides in and out of the door frame broke.
Questions:
Was there something we did that might have caused the break?
Can just the "plunger" (for lack of a better name) be replaced, rather than buying an entire assembly?
I found the entire assembly online. But there seems to be two that are available. A "60-0650" looks exactly like what we have. There is also a "60-1650" that supposedly is an upgrade and will fit.
Does anyone have any experience with this?
Thank you in advance !!!!

Hello and welcome. The short answer is, replace the whole lock. For my 2nd lock assembly I went with the 1650 model from Amazon. $108.00. It has a steel latch verses pot zinc of the 0650. Although a plastic piece broke on my first replacement assembly. I just replace it two weeks ago so we will see. If you go with the 1650, have a dremmel tool or small grinder available. To fit the cutout in my door, I had to grind off two optional eyelets (for different linkage options) at the top right corner of the lock to fit in the existing door hole cutout. Hopefully your Outlaw has a slightly larger door hole than mine.

We went with the 1650 just because we couldn't chance our pups being stuck inside with us on the outside.

We have had ours for two years and the mechanism seems much more secure and Hardy than the OEM one. We didn't wait for the original to break. Bought ours on EBAY for 115.00 (from someone in Elkhardt...)

Which CanAm are you carrying in the garage?
(We kept our Spyder RT in ours...)

ccwaxman,

I sent an email to Customer Service of the lock manufacturer ( TriMark) along with a picture of the model number. They sent me a new assembly free, used the old external face plate. Took a couple weeks to get. My old one had the cast zinc plunger and the new one has steel. Took me three minutes to change and no adjustments required. You can see the magnet stuck to the new plunger proving it's steel.http://www.thorforums.com/forums/att...1&d=1559431688

Enjoy the new rig.

Hauling F3 Limited. Thought we were going to have to remove the entire rear storage compartment, but just have to remove screws in bottom of compartment and tilt it up after removing passenger seat. Much quicker !

It's a tight fit... a VERY tight fit!
But there's no doubt: you'll have the coolest "golf cart" in the RV Park!
