New To Forums

Hello. I a new to Thor Forums and although I sent a message out about not receiving a remote control for my Freedom Elite, I am not sure I know how to use Forums. Is there a tutorial? Thank you.

Welcome to the group. Looks like you are doing pretty good with your post. It's kinda easy. If you want to join in a thread; aka conversation or topic just hit reply and type it in. If you want to quote someone's specific post, just hit quote and type you message in at the bottom of quote.
And don't worry if things don't work right the first time, just practice and have fun. We all started somewhere, and end up?????

Welcome! Just keep asking questions, many knowledgeable folks here, willing to help.

In case you missed it, a bunch of forum folks are gathering at a campground in Vero Beach the first weekend of October. Rallies are a great place for new folks to learn by other's experiences. Details are on the first post of the running thread about Fall Rally, or send me a PM, private message.

Welcome to our forum. I am a newbie myself and I have learned plenty in the past few weeks browsing the many topics discussed here. What part of Florida are you? Lived in Florida for 12 years and will be visiting in West Palm Beach in February and March with our 23U MH

2017 Thor Freedom Elite 23-H House Battery

I need help please! My RV house battery died and I took it to Auto Zone where I was told that it wasn't any good. I was hoping that it could be recharged. They tired to sell me a replacement battery, but not being sure what to get as a replacement I decided to wait for a day or two. The old house battery has no information printed on it so I am not able to make a comparison as to the number of Amps, or any other information.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Martin

Can you give us some measurements of the battery?
Most Coach batteries seem to either be Group 24, or Group 27.
The size will tell us which one it should be.
These are really common batteries, and any reputable battery vendor should be able to set you up with what you need.
Just make sure that he know that it's going into an RV...

EDIT: A chart with the battery sizes...

Thank you Bob. I appreciate the information. This is the size approximate size of the battery; W- 11.75", D- 6.25", and H- 9.50". Like I mentioned before, there are no markings on the battery. So I don't know what the AH or RC or CCA values are. The battery offered by Auto Zone had 1000 CCA.

Thank you again. Your information has helped a great deal.

Martin

It is not unusual for the house batteries to fail in short order in a new or used RV especially if they are Harris batteries. The real test of a battery is to put a load on it, which most places that sell batteries will do for free. Or if your battery has plenty of water in it and will not hold a charge that is a pretty good indication that it is not good.
Good luck

It sounds a lot like a Group 27 battery would be your best choice.
If you want to upgrade to a "better" choice": check with them concerning AGM batteries.
