Help anyone?? New to rving

Had our rv for a year. Very little use. Now retired and want to go a lot. Live in florida. Plan to head west and northwest at the end of april and be gone 2 months. Want to hit the major national parks on west coast and return via yellowstone.
Need to get vehicle to tow and bar to do it with.
Any suggestions.
Also, any suggestions on staying at national parks-reservations, etc
we have a 24' thor siesta.

This has been covered a few times, on many forums. Here are some links for your reading pleasure: (These are all from Thor Forums here)

What's best dolly/flat - Discussing the options but much discussion on flat towing.

Car in tow what's yours?

Towing and hitch advice

New toad Ford Focus

Dinghy Towing

Those are only a few samples from simply doing a search for "flat tow".

If you have never done this before and your vision is to visit the national parks and rural America, think about the tow. We have been traveling the US, Canada and Alaska for the past 10 years in three different RVs, staying out 2-4 months at a time and never towed a car. We have had 20' Class B, 22' Class C and two 25' Class A (Vegas/Axis). While there certainly have been times when we wished we had a vehicle with us, they actually have been few and far between and if we really needed one we rented it. Figure the cost of purchase and extra gas and you can rent a lot of vehicles. In addition, to us RVing is fun because it is simple. We generally can fit into most restaurant parking lots with our 25'er. If we had a tow it would be a lot more difficult. I believe strongly in the "KISS" principal. Just something else to think about.

Great to see you are going to get use out of your RV. I completed our search for a toad back in November. Looked at a number of vehicles but finally settled on a 2009 Jeep Wrangler with 23K miles on it. So far it has been a very good choice. It is easy to connect and disconnect, light weight and fun to drive. Good luck and safe travels.

I agree with OneilKeys. We have been west twice last year and did not tow. We also have a 25 footer and it was a breeze going about anywhere we wanted to. We where out 3 weeks and 6 weeks and had no problem not towing. We are all different though and have different needs. The longest we stayed in one park was 3 days and we did use Walmarts a couple times. Have fun there is a lot to see out there.

after buying the unit we went on a 7 day trip. visited my brother in NC and then to outside Philly. wanted to see the liberty bell was the reason for trip. coach to much trouble to take to town and use. we came home and took it to our project in ft hood Texas. it was only moved from storage twice. both times we needed a dingy. i don't want to have to unhook everything to take a sightseeing trip. as has been stated we all require different things. i am to old to be hooking and unhooking on a frequent basis. we will stay in parks and sightseer up to 200 miles out on day trips.
