New member, old coach

On Sept 9 2017, we had owned our 2003 Damon Challenger 348 for 2 months. That day was the day before Irma was to pay SW FL her visit, and while we had ridden out similar storms at home in the past, the storm surge predictions were beginning to look more threatening. So we loaded up Big Mama with "stuff", plus 4 dogs, 5 cats, 2 parrots, 2 rabbits and a large water turtle and headed inland. On the 11th, we returned to find no damage or surge, and we had a had a 3 day crash course in our new coach. She and we all did just fine. Glad we had her.

Damon is of course an orphan, glommed up by Thor. When I needed some tech support, I found that there were people there who had been around long enough to help me with my old rig, for which I am grateful.

Looking forward to learning and contributing.

Welcome to the forum! You and your traveling animals! RVs make a great evacuation plan, unless you wait too late and get caught up in traffic. Even then, you have a bathroom, food and a place out of the rain.

We are far from storm surge worries, but Irma did blow a lot of leaves and branches out of the trees in our Central FL area.

Your coach is vintage, experienced, a survivor! You have an oldie but goodie! Folks here will help you figure out the things that confound you.

Thanks for the welcome. We ran up behind the walmart in Arcadia and the eye went right over us, much diminished of course, and rocked us a little but otherwise no big deal. Snuck back down 31 just before they closed it for flooding and back into Fort Myers by noon on Monday. I will say, however, that when we left on Saturday about 3 in the afternoon there was not a soul on the roads! I'm just as glad that we did what we did when we did it. All in all, we were lucky in a storm that others have still not yet recovered from.
