New members - Axis

Hello,
We are now the proud owners of a Thor Axis. Bought it used 2018, 22,000 miles. We are new to camping and driving a camper. We would love to hear of great campsites around the country.

Welcome to the forum! This is a good place to learn and ask questions. A good start is the excellent crowd-sourced manual for Axis and Vegas. It's a bit dated and some of the concerns addressed there won't apply to your 2018, but it's a gold mine of info. Find it as a "sticky " under Tech Topics.

We had our Vegas for 6 good years. It served us well.

Hello to all - new member! Just purchased a 2019 Thor Magnitude BH35 and trying to figure out some of the things on it. Even though it only had a 11,000 miles, the previous owners left none of the manuals. My first question is when turning on the stove burners, do I have to ignite them with a lighter or is there an starter that I am just not using right? My second question is, when unplugged and motor not running, I was told the power button by the stairwell is to be turned off. When I do, there are still things running. I tried hitting the button on the inverter next to the power switch, but the green light remains on and there is still power. What am I missing??? Thank you in advance for helping the newbie!

The only way to be certain the power is off and your batteries don’t go dead is to unhook the negative battery cables from each battery.
If you only turn the switch to store your batteries will still go dead.

Congratulations, and welcome! We have mostly stayed in KOAs. We did spend a couple of nights recently in the BlueBell Campground in Custer State Park in South Dakota. It was beautiful! It had electric hookups, fire pits, and picnic tables at each site, freshwater available for your tank at a central location, a nice restaurant right across the street, a supply store, and the stables for trail rides was located right at the entrance to the park. If we are ever back in that area we will absolutely stay there again.

Welcome to the Forum. Lots of info here, good people provide advice by sharing their knowledge.

Like the battery switch, it doesn't disconnect everything. very frustrating.

I'd encourage you to do as much boon-docking as possible in Cracker Barrels and Wal-Marts rather than spending lots of money at RV parks unless you just want to. You coach is small enough that you really don't need to tow a car unless you want to. I had a 2017 Axis 25.2. My late wife loved it but the queen bed was not comfy and I wanted a king bed and a dinette so I traded it for a 2018 Windsport 29m. I really love that coach and can't ever see selling it. For me alone now, IT"S PERFECT!!!! I travel 3 or 4 days and park somewhere and don't find a RV park til I want to just have full hook ups and then on the road again after one night. If I find a cheap place like I found in Lewisville, Tx. for $10 a night I'll sleep in a Wal-Mart, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!!!!
