Places to Visit in Ft. Bragg California Advise

Hello,
Has anyone ever stayed in Ft. Bragg California? The family and I are thinking of taking a trip up there in May on the "mothership". Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Hey sgar. We have been to Fort Bragg for the past 20 years straight. Needless to say we love it there. MacKerricher state park is a very nice park. Close to the ocean, good sites (my wife knows exactly the sites she likes and makes sure she is on the computer 6 months before we go). The weather is pleasent, the town close by, a nice walking/biking path (the haul road) is right there. Good fishing either by boat or like my son and I, we kayak fish and always catch fish. We always eat at The Purple Rose at least once (good Mexican food, good drinks and walking distance to your campsite) and Eggheads (great breakfast). Short drive to Mendocino.

As former Californians, we visited the Ft. Bragg area a number of times through the years.

I'd recommend a ride on the Skunk Train that goes between Ft. Bragg & Willits CA. You can do either a round trip all the way into Willits, or go only part way, then back to Ft. Bragg depending on your schedule.

Also check out the Sea Glass Museum, the beautiful Botanical Gardens and Noyo Beach.

Now I'm kind of missing the beautiful northern CA coast!

Skunk Train x2. Mendocino is a great little town. If you like seafood, look for grilled, or pan fried sturgeon. Can't get it in many places. For a day trip, consider driving up the Navarro river through the redwoods to Philo. Several wonderful wineries and champagne cellars along the way.
