New Thor Hurricane 34J Owner

Hello from the not so sunny sunshine state. it's raining for almost two weeks in a row.

Got me a used (1 year old) Thor Hurricane 34J with 40k miles on it. I guess that the ford Triton V10 can be considered a virgin with this mileage

I live in Hollywood FL, bought the RV in Orlando. Went by plane to get it and drove it back. The Hurricane has a nice handling, I used to drive big truck’s when I was drafted several decades ago. But guess what? the driving experience is still there.

I’ve been cleaning, changing the house battery’s into 3 X 900 AMP AGM’s and planning to put in a power inverter to also have 110v without running the generator. Why? Power my laptop, onboard WIFI, Printer stuff like that while driving. With the big AGM bank now available this should not pose any problems.

For the moment I did not run into any issues that I cant handle, just one : the lack of decent manuals on this RV!

Kind Regards,
Alain.

Congratulations on your “new to you” coach! Sounds like you have a good plan, just make sure your charger can handle AGM batteries, some can’t. Did your coach not come with an inverter/charger, most do?

Your 34J should already have an inverter unless previous owner removed for some reason.

The passenger seat work station has 110V running from inverter if still in stock configuration. There are 2 plugs available for equipment once you flip the station top back toward the passenger seat. Not much else will run unless the generator is running.

Congrats and welcome to the forum! I agree, you should already have an 1800W inverter that will power the passenger workstation outlets, the fridge and all TVs and entertainment systems. There should be an inverter remote panel near the steps that will show info such as voltage, errors, etc.

Apparently it doesn't have one
It's a used one from El Monte RV. Only a year old, 40k miles. It also does not have the outdoor kitchen and TV. So now I'm trying to figure out how to wire in an inverter. It looks to me that the only way the battery gets charged is by the alternator, I was not able to find a charger anywhere in the Rv....
