New Thor Quantum Owners
We purchased a 2020 Quantum WS31 this weekend. We have not taken delivery of it as yet. Gave them a handful of things that need fixed before the PDI as well as the need for a good wash, wax and interior cleaning. We tentatively will pick it up on the 8th providing I don't find anything wrong at that time that needs to be done. Once we do, I will be sure to add a picture with this post.
This is our second motorhome but it has been almost 20 years since our last (94 Itasca 25' class A). In between we tried the yacht thing for a half dozen years (96 Trojan 440 Express). You will never complain about a rolling house maintenance again after a floating house. hahaa
Can't wait to get back to traveling and seeing everything there is to see out there. I am retiring at the end of the week but the wife has three more years so we will be taking a lot of short trips these first few years. I am sure I will have a ton of questions, so a big thank you in advance to all those that answer.
John and Sandy (plus Molly and Emma)

Well you're a rarity. Most pick up the vehicle with no forethought then spend the first two years of ownership complaining about those things YOU handled up front
Congratulations.
You'll do well here on this forum.
We have a lot of Arizona people here.
We're based near the grand canyon.

Haha. Thank you. Between growing up on a farm and 24 years in the military, you learn to be handy. Our Itasca was a learning experience. Every nut, bolt and screw seemed to come loose at some point. I probably glued in every singe piece that could move or come loose. But it was time well spent. Even just exterior lights alone, pulled one loose to change a bulb and found rust in it. Took the rest of the assembly off and found it was not weatherproof ever even sealed with silicone. So that weekend I did them all. No doubt over the next year, everything on this unit will come off, get reviewed and go back on properly, even being new.

I suppose you're well-acquainted with the phrase, "A boat is a hole in the water; into which one throws money."
Did you know that RVs share that same relationship with the woods?
Congratulations on this new adventure, and welcome to the forum!

I miss my boats. They were as close to cost free as regular maintance allowed. Easy, fun, fraternal, fast when they needed to be, 1mph when they needed to be. Campable, capable, towable, shallow drafts....
The rv is more practical, and we're inland now. It would be sincerely stupid for us to have a boat now.

We called it a boat buck. $1 = $100. Especially when it came to the twin cats. Or anything to do with Navigation. Haha
I do miss my boat too. But it was a lot of work to maintain. Our best trip in it though was the inter coastal waterway from Ft. Lauderdale to Baltimore. So much history and so much to see.

I am lucky enough to have had two retirements now, first 24 in the Air Force and now 15 with my current company. But that meant my wife had to go from job to job during our moves. She is a nurse with the VA right now and will be eligible in 3yrs but may wait until she is 65 in 5 years. Until then we are going to practice the heck out of this MHing thing.

In the early 80's I saw a steel hulled 25 footer appearing to be about a 59 or so year boat with crank down wheels so it was its own trailer. Had a small galley and a portable toilet.
It was just barely off the rez at the hog back in waterflow nm.

Just get one of those Duck Boats, gut it, and put in some nice living accommodations!

We have the Quantum KM24. I retired from the Air Force in 1986 (26 yrs) and again in 2002 from a defense contractor on Fort Gordon. Doe to the wife's failing health we will be selling our shortly. This is the last of 5 RV's we've owned in the last 36 years.
