Smile New to us 2020 Axis 25.6 and taking off for Sturgis!

Hi all!

Scary- taking my new to me Axis to Sturgis, trailer in tow, without ever having spent 1 night in it yet. NY to SD. Not the way I would have planned but Sturgis was booked and this is how the timing worked out with trade/sales. This is my 2nd RV, first was 25 ft Forest River Sunseeker Class C.

Hopefully- I’m not on here asking crisis questions by the time the weekend rolls around! But I do appreciate the community on FB which is where I found a link to this forum.

Looking forward to this community!

Scott

Congratulations Scott! Hopefully your trip will be trouble free and with your previous RV experience you are a step ahead.

But if questions do arise don't hesitate to ask - just remember we are not there so provide as much information as possible.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on you new rig!

When you get to the hills, the Tow/Haul button will be your friend, especially on the downhills.

Have you been to Sturgis before? Where do you plan to stay out there? It's a crazy busy place in mid-August.

Happy trails!

Bunch of RV centers around Sturgis and Rapid City. Don’t need to waste the time driving to Montana if service is needed.

The Buffalo Chip may be a place to camp. But will be loud, wild, fun, and a little more than a regular campground. Unless something has changed, and I haven't been in years, price includes all the concerts at night!!!!

Here's some local info to consider. There are not a bunch of RV service places around Sturgis. I know of 2, Dakota RV and Camping World. The 1st places priority on people who bought the RV there and the 2nd, from personal experience, leaves an awful lot to be desired. Be prepared to wait a long time for any service. There are some local mobile RV repair guys but expect to pay at least $100/hour plus a charge just to show up. Most of the campgrounds will be full because of the Motorcycle Rally. I would suggest you immediately start calling ahead to reserve a place. Buffalo Chip will be full, you can bet on that. As a side note, while talking to a Dr a couple of days ago I was told they are seeing Covid patients coming in to the hospital from Buffalo Chip. Also SD has had a considerable increase in covid cases every week for the last 4. All of the new patients are unvaccinated. Gas this morning was 3.47/gal. Have a good trip.

Brilliant!
