I wouldn't want to take it apart: He is bound to find something that Thor didn't do right--you don't want to go digging

I downloaded the App on my iPhone and I will be interested to see what my noise level is when we start out on our trip this Sunday. After 8000 miles to Canada and back last summer, we also thought that our Vegas was quieter than our Class C. I have added a bunch of new insulation and closed up the window pillar holes, so I will be interested to see what the decible meter says.

Build Date
Happily Retired,
What is the build date of your unit?
Phil

Phil,
Is there another way to check the exact build date without getting the build sheet from Thor? Haven't asked for it yet! We purchased ours in January, 2014, so it was definitely one of the earlier builds.
Had our share of issues to resolve the first year, but road and engine noise, luckily, wasn't one of them.

The reason I asked is because I have not had as bad an issue with noise as some. Or, I am just more accepting of the noise. My Axis was built in August 2014.
I will be taking a trip next week and will measure the noise level while traveling and post the level here.

OK- checked sound level with my new noise meter app . Remember this is a 2015 Vegas with FatMat on the dog house, w/s pillars and front dash seam stuffed and FatMatted. WOT 0-60 showed a max of 94, steady state 65 mph cruise was 82-85 . Not too bad, but these were smooth Fl roads with a slight tail wind- taken at the drivers head . Too bad I have no starting baseline..

Thanks Stan.. I will post my results next week after we start on out trip. I baselined my app in my house (45 db) and in my Mazda CX-5 (65 db @ 45 mph.) At least it will give me some kind of comparison.

Took my Vegas on a 400 mile trip from Key Largo to Gainesville FL today and had s chance to test the noise level. At 55 mph I read 78-80 db and at 65 mph 81-82 db. Even at 65 the engine noise has all but disappeared. Wind noise is all we hear. An added benefit to all the insulation I put in the engine is the fact that at 85-90 degrees on the turnpike, the A/C kept up with the heat and worked much better than last summer. You can feel the difference on the dog house. After 3 hours of driving it was warm, but not hot. I also added an additional layer of tint to the upper windows above the driver and passenger seats and that helped with the heat.

I am so glad you "fixed" the problem even though, in my opinion, it should have been done correctly in the factory! With that being said, is there anyone who has not insulated the doghouse that would like the FatMat that I ordered and can't return? Just need to pay the postage to its final destination.

Just completed a 1500 mile trip from Florida to Michigan by way of Nashville. I was pretty happy with noise in Florida and Georgia - with their nice smooth roads, but as I got further north and the pavement became more " grainy" I was not very happy with coarse road noise. Really loud , particularly in Tenn and Kentucky . Going to continue working....
Have you noticed how much the dash moves on rough roads- not a lot of structure there , and doesn't seem well attached to the body. Will be hard to really seal when there is so much movement. Just thinking out loud....
Other than noise, I was really happy with the coach. Very peppy, rides well, even on really rough roads, and overall structure seems great. Impact on bad roads seems good for a motorhome. I really wish Thor had spent some more engineering effort on the dash area....😁😁
