Smile New Axis 24.1 Owners - Hello

Nearing retirement and picking up new Axis 24.1 next week. Looking forward to learning 'tricks and tips' from others experience on this forum and happy to share anything helpful we might learn?
We've traveled and camped a lot with the kids with tents, pop-up, and trailers.
Best wishes to all.

Congratulations and welcome.

Before picking up your unit (if you haven't already) download and read Ed's excellent crowd sourced Axis/Vegas owner's manual found here:
https://www.thorforums.com/forums/f1...nual-4961.html

It includes a predelivery checklist specific to Axis/Vegas units.

I picked up my new Axis 24.1 last month. Read about my potential modifications and some already installed here: https://www.thorforums.com/forums/f2...tml#post280185

Overall I am happy with my new Axis although I haven't camped yet- there is no place to camp in the cold of Connecticut right now.

The handling is much better than I expected and the only improvement will probably be an alignment job. The driving noise is tolerable and seems to be more road noise than engine noise.

My only real disappointment is the high parasitic electrical draw- about 20 amp hours daily. This is with the battery switch on. With it off for storage maybe a couple of amp hours daily which is easily covered by the solar panel. I am expecting to use another 15 amp hours daily for normal RV stuff: lights, water pump, device charging, fridge controls, etc. We used 15 amp hours on our simpler T/T. So I will run my new batteries down to 50% in three days rather than my hoped for five days. I can live with that, although it is disappointing that parasitic loads exceed real loads, but I will have to confirm the real loads. They may be higher.

Enjoy your new Axis.

David

Thanks David, appreciate hearing from someone else with a new one and glad it drives better than expected - I'm a little worried about that from other posts. Interesting on the electric draw. Wife and I both have cpap machines and wondering how that will work.

Have you identified what is drawing 20 amp hours daily from the house battery?

Congratulations, and welcome!

I've found this forum to be invaluable for tips and solutions to issues on my 2019 Vegas 24.1.

This question is discussed more fully in this thread: https://www.thorforums.com/forums/f1...ads-25003.html

All I can say is that when I pulled the 30A fuse labeled Multiplex Relay VIN, it dropped in half. I don't know for sure but I suspect this fuse is related to Thor's Rapid Camper display and appliance control screen. The remainder of the load may be the CO detector or some system that needs to be powered up all of the time for safety. It isn't the LP Detector because that has a dedicated fuse in position #6.

All other fuses when pulled had negligible effect.
