Newberry on board

We’re taking possession of our 2014 Thor Chateau soon and have a question about insurance. We have our autos with Allstate and will probably go with them. They are great with claims but are expensive. Any suggestions?

I switched to Geico a year ago, dropped Allstate. Saved about 40% on cars and Mh. Also has roadside assistance for all vehicles.

Make sure that you get a policy that is tailored to motorhomes.
Oh! I'm with Safeco, and I saved a bunch of money!
And congratulations on your new rig!

It is always smart to shop around for almost any kind of insurance. Be sure to check independent agents as well as the captive kind. Coverages vary, as well as the premium cost. You don't want to learn your coverage by accident! Your homework will pay off.

I've got Allstate and nobody could come close to what I'm paying. But I've been with them for 40 years and insure a house, motorhome, 3 cars, 2 trailers, and 2 off road vehicles.

We were with USAA for years, bought our coach and shopped around. Bumped into AARP The Hartford, WOW. We've now been with them 3 years and have saved several $s. Qualifications are good driving record and AARP eligible. No one else has been within $400 per year of them for our 2015 Thor Challenger and 2013 Ford Explorer. We have fairly good coverage on all to include a $500 deductible. We've had 3 glass claims - no problems.

Just our experiences.

Over the years we have had Progressive, Farmers, Good Sams, and a couple others for our RV's. Right now we Good Sams mainly due to the fact we are long timers and they will let you reduce your coverage while your RV is in storage. In the next couple of months we anticipate going full time and we will possibly be changing to Progressive or another company.
