Smile Newbie

Hi all. Just purchased my Class A Hurricane and can't wait to start this adventure that was long planned by me and me late husband. I'm looking forward to diving into this community and appreciate any help or advice. First question is what are the MUST HAVES for the RV before the first trip?

Hi Gina!
Welcome to our campfire.
"Must-Haves"?
You'll need a sewer hose...
A freshwater drinking hose...
A couple of flashlights...
If your bed isn't a standard size: you'll need the right size sheets to fit
Oh! Don"t forget your spirit of adventure!

Thank you.

Any advice on type of in motion satellite? My coach is "wired" but I'm not sure what's best for getting Direct Tv on the road.

Welcome aboard. Which model Hurricane? Besides the items Bob suggests. I will add a surge protector, pressure reducer for city water, landing pads for the leveling jacks and a good grill! Safe travels Mark

Sygic rv map system on your phone

Next exit app is truly priceless

A tire pressure monitor system

Rvparky app

Radarnow app gives you live weather radar that follows you on the road.

Automatic generator starter (eventually, not immediately)

Google assistant or siri. The value of saying 'take me to the next Pilot Station along my route' or 'nearest mueum' or 'best tacos' or 'nearest truck wash', 'how tall is a smurf' just can't be explained in dollars.

These are the items that erase concerns that are obvious or subconscious concerns. Others are items that make you slightly psychic about the near future.

Do a dry run by hooking up the sewer hose at the house, removing it from the holder attaching and detaching. Same with water hose and water pump and power cord. If the black and gray tank hasn't been used yet, fill it and empty it with water.
There's Nothing quite like not knowing how hard to push on that bayonet fitting at 2am when you have your first full tank.

On a personal note, if you relish such a dish, eat at a Chester's Chicken at the truck stops. Not much matches their potato wedges and chicken.

No doubt: there are just catalogs full of stuff that you can buy...
But for a first trip: Keep it as simple as possible, and it'll make it easier for you to see what you'll want to add to the ever-growing pile of stuff that'll get packed into your rig.
Oh! I forgot to say that i'm really sorry that your "Hugsband" won't be enjoying the adventures with you...
But I'm willing to bet that he'll be watching...

You may consider filling the coach up with all of what you intend on carrying as well as all of the tanks (black, grey, fresh water) with water as well as the propane tank and take it to have the alignment done again. The factory aligns the front end when it was built but it was also empty when it was done. Once you load it up, the alignment changes. I had an issue with my first motor home and it cost me two new front tires and an alignment with only 7700 miles on them and $750.00. You will have some great adventures waiting ahead of you.

Seat

Look for a good gel seat pad.

Hi, I’m Deb from Michigan. We have owned 4 class C motor homes so we’re not new to rvingj but we are planning on retiring in the spring and want to purchase a class A gas powered RV. Anybody out there have a Thor Miramar 32.2?

Try opening new thread. I'm not that good at this.

Welcome Gina, my advice is if this is your first RV, try to find a local RV park which will let you come practice all of your setting up and operating all of the systems. It would be great if the person or place you're buying it from offers a familiarization/training service (more than what can be done at the lot).
Knowing how to use everything in every situation makes everything else more enjoyable. And a good checklist for packing, setting up and tearing down before leaving is critical.

If you click on the green "forum" button sort of in the top left portion of things: it'll show you all of the different topics that are available.
Click on the "introduce yourself" area, and that's where you'll end up.
Now look for a brown "new thread" button...
Once you find it: give it a click, and magic will happen.
