Newbie from NC!

Hi All:

I'm at the very beginning of thinking of RVing. I've been retired for 11 years, I'm 61 now. I really like the Thor's as I own 2 motorcycles (a Harley and a Vintage (1975) Suzuki) and a "garage" (toy hauler) would be a must. I would pull a car behind. I own a Chevy Volt, so it's not large.

I eventually plan on selling my house here in NC and putting the money into the RV. I look forward to learning a lot here!

Welcome to the Forum!
As a former owner of an Outlaw 29-H: I'd suggest that you look closely at the Class A Outlaws. The new 29-J model (Class C); only has a garage capacity of 1,000 pounds now...

Well, I'm a little unusual (Ask my friends), never married, no kids. So I was able to retire with out asking someone!

Welcome,
I suggest getting as big of an RV as you are comfortable with, and can get it home, parked where you need to.
We are limited in how long one is as to where we are up in the mountains on a private road.
With that said, a permanent accessible queen size bed would be nice, and am sure the Class A can accommodate with toy hauler capability.
We sacrifice the permanent bed for the toy hauler garage (where we set up air mattress), in a class C.
But we need to get it up in here and into its designated parking space, soon to be a cement pad, and a carport roof!

Welcome to the best forum around.

I would take your time and pick the right RV for you.

If your going to full time I would suggest getting the biggest RV you can afford and feel confortable to drive.

Sound like you need a toy hauler.

If you didnt have a car to tow an enclosed trailer would also work nicely for the bikes.

Or even a trailer large enough for the bikes and car? But then you might need a large diesel pusher or super C diesel rig.

I searched for over a year before I settled on my Axis....and im glad I did.

Take your time and ask lots of question.

Another NC boy here....I grew up in Wilmington

yeah, back when I was 40 or so, my wife and I loosely discussed the idea that we should start working on a plan so that I could retire at 50. I think it would have been a stretch, but it seemed possible to semi-retire for sure. I loved the idea.
but then the economy went sour, I got laid-off, later more kids came into the picture, blah, blah, blah... oh well.

Anyway, good for you!

good luck in your search.

Oh...the name. Glasspilot. An aviator?

I'm an inactive private pilot, but still have an active interest in aviation. Do you still fly?
