Newbies with an unknown leak.

We have recently purchased a 2014 Thor Four Winds 31a mobile home. While camping in the rain, we found water in the cabinets above the dinette. How do you go about finding the source of the leak, we also found water next to the oven pooling down a small amount toward the bunks. Our dilemma and question is how do we go about finding the leak? Just caulk the heck out of the top? Around the antenna and the AC? Many thanks for any suggestions. A little nervous about this problem + RV life. We live in Williamsburg,VA. Thanks again for ur input. Carolee & Pete

Does that guarantee the leak or leaks stops?

I don't have your model, but RV roofs need to be checked annually for cracking or missing caulking or damage to the roof it's self. There is a special caulking but I can't for the life of me remember the name. Someone here will post the name for you. That is where I would start. Good luck and safe travels!

I just saw the name on another post "Dicor" is the caulking and my dealer told me the caulking needs to be removed and replaced about every 5 years.

This is a big investment. I would take it to a dealer or MH service facility and pay them to re-seal the entire roof system. Four years and ticking is overdue for this. It's a regular maintenance project and many owners that know what they are doing, do it themselves. It's the single most protective thing you can do. If you're familiar with the process...go for it. If not intimately familiar with roof sealing products and processes...go ahead and pay for the service. It will pay off in the big picture, but don't wait. If you live in a snow area, melting snow is like a slow flowing water hose.

I never had any leaks, you have to talk to the company that does the work for you, it's like a leak on your roof of a house, there hard to locate, that's why I took the preventive maintenance.
I would expect if you show them where the water builds up and they do the work there would be some kind of warrenty

Dicor Sealant

Using Dicor sealant is relatively easy, go on you tube and watch some videos first. It can be messy if not careful.
If there are any small tears or holes they can be patched with eternabond, and I usually go over the eternabond edges with the dicor, also search youtube to see how its done.
always prep and clean the area first for best adhesion

Why did we let our kids grow up and leave home?
It would be MUCH easier to let them climb up on the roof!

No, Its easier to chain them up and leave them in the basement. LOL.

Put them on the roof they will call child services. Out of sight - out of mind. LOL.

"Chain them in the basement"...

That's a funny coincidence! My Kid has often said that he's putting a recliner chair in his basement, that has handcuffs attached to it: all for my retirement years!

Had roof resealed $900 to find still leaking!
Found tracks at roof edge to be the culprit! Guy from camping world said gutter railing on wrong side! Can’t put gutter spouts on the ends. Myuhczvifn

We have an appointment in October to have it inspected at Camping World and then will determine $$ sealing. Where was the leak in your RV? Thanks for your time

The big RV dealers really do not care, I have better luck with the RV mom an pop shops, they want your business, big shops could care less

2018 freedom elite. Leaking behind drivers seat where window above table area and by stove. If I figure out how to upload pictures I will show you!
Bedlam slide out leaked above bed. I thought it was coming in the rubber seals but found it to be the railing outside.

Newbies with an unknown leak.

Sorry doubles. I originally thought under the awning but that was good!
Top picture shows railing above the pull out railing. Top one of the two that are visible that leaked over bed and on down the railing over the stove and dining table! Used clear sealant from camping world. Redid entire camper including lites, doors, windows etc.
