In for a penny, in for a pound.

As this Vegas 25.1, a one owner trade in with 12,000 miles, is my first venture of any kind into the RV lifestyle, I'm new to the forum as well. The 260 mile drive back on I-8 from the dealer in Yuma with a stiff crosswind was a bit of an experience. No stranger to large equipment with over two million miles pulling a set of doubles for UPS and Yellow Freight. However, as well documented on this forum, that Ford e450 chassis needed some serious help..

I have already begun making some of the improvements needed, thanks to all the useful information from the members on this forum. I'm looking forward to becoming a more seasoned RVer with all the helpful information from you vets, and hopefully be able to contribute as well

Congratulations and welcome.

A lot of helpful info for Axis/Vegas owners is available in Ed's excellent crowd sourced owner's manual (if you haven't downloaded it already) available here:

Welcome to our world but with that many miles as a professional driver you are miles above most of us in driving chops.

Thanks to all of you for the warm welcome. After only a few 3 day overnighters at several RV Parks, it's already obvious what RV folks are all about. Ready with a helping hand and friendly.

I appreciate the heads-up on the manual GEEK and a special thanks to Col Ed Felker for compiling it.

After driving leased Ford trucks (F150s, 250s, 350s, 450s) 250+ miles per day 6 days a week for over 30 years I found one sure fact............the company WAS NOT leasing them due to their superior handling or great ride!!!!

Welcome to RV ownership and this forum! My husband and I are also newbies. At least we were in Spring of 2019. We are still newbies in many ways, but this forum has helped us so much! Congratulations on your Vegas!

Thanks very much for the warm welcome. Congrats and good luck in your new endeavor as well. Looks like we're both starting out with a capable coach.

Welcome Jon!!
I have a 2017 25' Thor Freedom Elite on the Ford E350 chassis. Experienced the same handling problems. Posted on my handle Roadking. I logged 1.5 million miles driving for business over a 40yr career. No heavies, just cars and light trucks.
I made one more upgrade not posted yet. I had the rear leaf spring shackles replaced with a product from Surlastic what a difference!! Before installation every bump was a mini earthquake. Wheel alignment made a big difference too

Thanks for the welcome Roadking. For those of us who always enjoyed the road, RVing just seems to be the next natural progression after retirement.

My quest for a better handling horse took a significant step forward today. I installed the 1&3/8 inch Hellwig front sway bar purchased from Summit Racing. Not perfect yet, but it's certainly getting there. It no longer rocks back and forth after a dip in the road. Very livable now, until a set of Bilstein shocks sometime down the road.
