popping noise in rear of coach

Hello,

My name is Tim and I'm a motor home rookie. Don't want to go broke while learning, so I'm sure some of you folks have had many issues and experience with correcting them. The problem I have is that we have a popping noise in the rear of our motor home. 34J windsport. We have been sitting waiting on parts for 2 weeks and it just started within the last couple of days. I did put some wood blocks down on a couple of the jacks and I'm wondering if that could be a problem and I need to remove those and just put the jacks down on the blacktop. Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Tim McCormick
The Rookie

i’ve heard this from time to time at the rear of our coach, and have never been able to track it down, tho I would think that it’s more than likely the chassis ‘settling’, but that’s just my best guess. It ‘could’ be the levelers, but since they are hydraulic, it’s doubtful...

Welcome to the forum!
My leveling jacks creak almost as much as my knees do...
Just about every day: they "make a little noise"...
I'm not saying that it's normal: but you're certainly not alone!

It could be a super duper small amount of hydraulic fluid leaking backwards from the jack cylinders over time back into the reservoir...kinda like your tractor loader bucket will do over a few days.

Maybe completely different, but I have a popping noise from the right side, which I traced to the awning. Nothing seems loose, it goes in and out fine, dealer checked it, found no issues. Sometimes does it going out, sometimes going in, sometimes as a breeze moves it around slightly, sometimes not at all.

Thank you sir. I appreciate any help I can get. I had already put some wd40 on the jacks and decided to retract them and put them down again. 2/8 under each jack. Seems to have worked. They suggested put down and retract a couple of times, but I just did it the one time. Also I'm moving Wed, so I'll do it then. Thanks again

Tim

I would check the rear sway bar (track bar?) mounts (bushing and bolts) to see if loose. My old jeep would make a popping noise and I found one loose a long time ago. Also check to see if the rear shocks are tight (top and bottom). Let us know what you find so we can track for future reference.
