Preparing for Retirement want to buy a new Thor Outlaw

Hi Everyone,

I am planning on my retirement motorhome to be a
Thor Outlaw, I am selling the contents of my home
as well as the home and will live in the motorhome.
I am not new to camping, but I am new to forums,
so any advice on my choice of motorhome? The largest
rig I have ever driven was a 30ft Winnebago so a 37Ft
Outlaw will be new to me. I plan to purchase a smart car
and golf cart for the toys for this motorhome, and my plans
are to head to New Mexico, Arizona and Colorado areas. If
need be I might even try my hand at "Host Camping". Any advice?

Hi Jill, and welcome to the forum.
As far as your choice of MHs, I can't help you with that. Everybody has an opinion on what's best. So I guess it all boils down to your likes and dislikes.
My only word of advise would be to make sure this move is what you want, because after you sell everything, it's gone, and if you find out this isn't the life you envisioned????????

Hello and welcome. my advice would be to sit in the MH and envision where you will put everything you need to. Envision your daily usage since you will be living in it. There is an entire forum on rv.net forum dedicated to full timing. You could ask lots of questions there about full timing and work camping from those who do it.

Thanks for the responses. I have thought about this for several years, and I am looking forward to this new adventure. I have come to the conclusion that the amount of STUFF we acquire in our life times is just that STUFF. We can't take it with us, and why burden ourselves and our families (after we move on) with it. The only thing that does now weigh us down are our memories of our adventures through this life. They are ours and we can take them with us.!!

Hello Jill, and welcome to the forum from Nevada. I just went from a 27 foot to a 35 foot and found that the new unit drives and handles a lot better. Yes, you will have to adjust your turning distance for sharp corners and backing into slots, but it's not really that difficult. With the new color back up monitors and the help of the wife as spotter, there's no problem. With her help, I've even done a fair job of learning to back with a car trailer attached. My thoughts on getting rid of stuff, I'd suggest renting a small storage and store a minimum of what you'd need for a start up just incase somthing upsets the current plans.
