Process suggestions on Private Purchase?

Hi all, negotiating the purchase of a 2013 Tuscany XTE. Wife and I owned a fifth wheel for the past five years. Any suggestions or advice on the following is appreciated -
[*]Purchase Agreement template[*]Pre-purchase Inspection Checklist[*]Doing a Title Search[*]Bill of Sale template[*]Temporary Registration for drive home (CA to SC)[*]Other suggestions ...?

Thanks,

Bill & Vicki - South Carolina

First off, if you haven't already, I'd check with your state's dept. of motor vehicles for what's required to license a vehicle bought in another state other than your own.

If you are financing it make sure your lender will let you do a purchase across state lines. For the bank I work for we can’t do a private party purchase we will finance from a dealership though because they are responsible for completing the sale. It’s all do to the title process, inspections and any other wierd thing each state has.

For a PDI, go to the Tech Topics section and open the first sticky, Ed Felker's Vegas/Axis Manual". It has a great PDI that you can print off.

Your DMV can tell you how to handle the licensing. The DMV might give you a temporary paper plate to use in transit. We bought our Vegas in Ohio and took it on a trip before returning to Iowa.

In Florida we keep our plates. We moved our plate from the old coach to the new, and were back before the deadline to get the license and registration. If you have a bill of sale with you, you should have no problems on your way home.

You should easily find a bill of sale on the web. I have bought and sold many vehicles with simple homemade bill of sale sheets.

Good luck with your negotiations!
