Mach 15 Upgrade
I replaced the 13,500 btu Coleman AC with their Mach 15 (15k btu). Picked it up online at PPLMOTORHOMES on sale. Sold the 13.5k on Craigslist for $350 as a new/slightly used “takeoff” part. The whole swap ended up costing me only about $200. We’ll worth the price considering the improvement in performance trying to keep up with the heat in the Southwest. It was a direct swap not requiring any extra parts.
The swap also gave me the opportunity to inspect the ducting around the AC area. You would be surprised (maybe not) about the shoddy workmanship installing the duct work around the unit. Spot welds putting the ducting together with big gaps allowing the cold air to escape into the area between the ceiling and the roof. Not too efficient. I used metal ducting tape to cover all the gaps and dress up the ducting. Big difference in the amount of air we now get into the back bedroom than before the duct repairs.
