Recently purchases a Freedom Elite 30FE

Hi, we recently purchased a 2018 Freedom Elite 30FE. The dealer is 150 miles from the house so the drive home was our introduction. We haven't owned an RV since 1983 and thatwas a small trailer. Needless to say, the initial 150 mile, mostly on IH35, was a real eye opener as to what modern motor homes are like. Winds were an issue. The gas consumption was shocking. The handling ability and power of the Ford truck was appreciated. We've learned a lot in the first two weeks but we've got a lot more to learn -- most of which we don't even know that we don't know. I think we may be on this forum with a lot of questions for the forseeable future.

Thor Freedom Elite 30FE Camping Club

I think it would be great if we had the above. We could learn a lot and enjoy camping.

30fe

I have a 2017 Freedom Elite 30FE. These models are specific to Camping World with no options available to the consumer. I would be interested in those who have purchased a 30FE and made modifications to theirs. Has anyone installed side view cameras, leveling system, upgraded the vent fan in the bathroom with a better model, replaced any of the vents in the ceiling with one that has an exhaust fan, replaced couch with recliners? Yes, I could have bought another RV with all these features but paid more for it. Just a suggestion.

Got 2018 30FE and was considering four mods:
1) Replace house battery 75aH group 24 with two deep cycle AGM 75+ aH group 24 Batteries
2) Replace water heater with Atwood 50000 BTU On Demand Continuius Flow water Heater
3) Heating pads for grey & black tanks (30FE has switch on monitor panel for them but non-installed).
4) Coleman Mach 15000 AC & Heat Pump

The Specs for 2017 shows Power jacks front and rear but I haven’t found them on my 2018. Does yours have them?

No power jacks on my 2017 30FE. I did replace my 13,500 btu A/C with the Mach 15 (15,000 btu) unit. Plug-n-play. It did help, but still needs more living in the southwest (Las Vegas).

Like I said above in a mistaken "Quick Quote"...no levelers on my 2017 30FE. I also squeezed two 29 group deep cycle batteries in parallel on the tray.

Any reason you chose a group 29 versus a group 27 battery?

No power jacks installed on my 2018 30FE either. My 30FE does not have a switch on the monitor for heating pads either. Still good luck with your new RV.

My battery came with a group 27 battery that died within a year. I replaced it. With a AGM Deep Cycle 92AH Battery. We don’t boondocks so went with one battery. I had a 30amo 120volt receptacle installed at home to keep my unit plugged in when at home.

Just got ours last week. The Air Conditioner died on the walk through...picked it up yesterday and the a.c. unit is dripping on the floor already. We plan to upgrade to a 15K unit. And...i think the fitting for the sewer dump hoses is facing the wrong way. We are over 3 hours away from the dealer my husband chose so I'm getting the feeling that most of our initial miles will be going back for repairs. It does have the room we needed though.

It’s not really a bag. It’s a fabric sleeve that covers cables coming into the bottom of the slide out. If you were to look inside, it’s attached to the floor of the slide out and there is a big hole through the floor where cables come through. I think it’s purpose is to keep critters or even water from coming through the hole when the slide is extended.
Kinda makes that compartment useless for any storage.

My 2018 30FE has one tank with heat pad but no switch. No auto levelers on mine but I did install stabilizer jacks on back to help with movement.

That "bag" is Thor's weird way of creating a "seal" for the cables that have to slide through the slot that the bag is attached to. That whole mess of fabric can be pulled to the inside by removing the inside cover under the rear dinette bench. You'll see the cables that I mention when you do this.

Have you installed heating pads on your grey and fresh water tanks yet and if so, how hard is to do?

We have a '19 30FE. No power jacks, no heat pads or switches for them. 13K air conditioner is really not adequate. We'll replace with a 15K when it dies or when we win PowerBall - - whichever comes first.
