Rookies on the road!

Greetings from Tulsa, OK

We recently took possession of a “new to us” 2015 Thor Axis 24.1. There were so many things that we appealing about this model I wont bore you with them all. If you own one, you already know.

This coach wasn’t used much and only has 13k miles on it. That was a nice selling feature. The previous owners had some health issues and were not able to use it as much as they would have liked. We bought it directly from the couple. The coach has been sitting outside under trees and was REALLY dirty and heavily oxidized. I have spent several hours buffing and polishing and it is looking beautiful!

We currently have more questions than answers and I will be reading though the great information shared here. Please be gentle as we ask our newbie questions.

Robb

Welcome to the forum and ask away! Have you checked out Ed Felkner's crowd sourced "owners manual" for Axis/Vegas? A must read for "rookies".

Congratulations

Now that the pleasantries are out of the way, c'mon man send a few pictures. tell us about it, did you get lucky to have a few things already installed?

Really low miles; you done good!!! What about the generator and the batteries?

I use wash n wax on my roof and RV body all the time; and then wax and buff with meguiars wax once in the Fall and then again in spring. I don't cover the RV, but I do have have quality tire covers though. I do park it under a tree which I love. Every so often; I take a regular water hose and blow off small twigs and leaves.

Right now it’s pretty bare bones stock but we certainly have a wishlist of upgrades.

Wishlist includes, but not limited too:
Jensen car1000 radio
Sumo Springs
Improved sway bars/stabilizer bars
TPMS
Solar panels
New shower curtain configuration (ideas?)

Batteries and generator are a sore subject at the moment... I have a post in the “maintenance and repair” explaining my dilemma.

Every RV owner has a wish-list...
The trick is to figure out how to start making a dent in that list: without your Better-Half ever figuting out how much it is costing...

It’s funny you mention that because our wishlists are totally different. She has interior items and outdoor comfort items. Mine are technical/mechanical. Looking forward to being out on the road.

Wow that is gorgeous!!! It is also proof that if you maintain the finish by washing & waxing the coach will look good for years without a cover or even being parked in elements. My Mfg actually advises against the use of covers.

If this is thread you are referring to https://www.thorforums.com/forums/f8...ies-26488.html then I think you are in the best of good hands if you follow exactly what the ACE subscribes. Google may be your best friend, but the ACE can be your best source of quality information about an RV Read and learn from him, but make sure you have a Multimeter or two when dealing with the ACE

My money says you have either a blown or tripped fuse in the battery compartment. You mentioned a concern with the generator? I didn't see that issue... how many hours on it?

Congratulations! Great looking coach. Wish lists are easy to do, many $100 bills at a time. Enjoy the journey!

I also have the 2015! We love ours as well, I have done many a $$$ in upgrades so you have come to the right forum.. one thing that i would say was the most bang for your buck was the sway bars. I installed front and back some just go with the back,, but for sure make driving a much more pleasant experience.
