RV insurance, 2009 Thor 4 Winds 19g

Having problems getting insurance on this 2009 4 Winds 19g - my longtime car insurance guy struggled to get something on it for when I went to pick it up (last week), but today the parrent company sent a cancellation notice because they found the info on the make and model to be incomplete....I've contacted the agent and hope he can fix the problem, but I suspect they just don't handle many motorhomes. Suggestions for other companies to try?

I have Progressive for my Motorhome and Motorcycle. On line and simple to get an immediate quote. Not sure if they are the best or cheapest but I'm more of an infrequent traveler at this point.

Tried them....

Tried the online quote, but the 19' length is not on the list of 4 Winds lengths...which I suspect is the problem my insurance agent is having, too.

Try Good Sam.

I also have Progressive for 3 cars, motorcycle and RV. My insurance guy was trying to match Progressive and he said, no way he could.

Just had a claim with them and they handled it extremely well

Happy Camper here

National General through Good Sam has always worked for us.

Your 19G won't be on a standard Four Winds list because it was specifically manufactured as a rental unit. There is no retail equivalent.

We have GEICO. The only issue we had was they got the year, make and VIN wrong, twice. Once we got that issue straightened out, it was clear sailing.

I had National General through Good Sam for several years until they suddenly increased their rates by nearly 50% for no apparent reason. Called GS and they switched me to Progressive for a lower rate than ever. Been with them for 2 years now. I especially like their RV specific features and full replacement cost coverage. Had my catalytic converter stolen not long ago and they were super easy to work with and there was no increase in my rate afterwards. I’ve been bundled happily with State Farm for all of my other insurance needs for half a century but they couldn’t even come close on the RV.

We are in the process of re-locating to a friendlier place for retirees and have to change our insurance because the current carrier (Erie) is not licensed to sell insurance in SC. We will be going back to AAA with Progressive for the RV.

I switched to geico they consider my m h just like another vehicle, saved $500.
Then switched boat and house to geico saved another $500.

State Farm wanted to consider mine to be just another vehicle as well but it only cost about $12 more per year to get a number of worthwhile RV specific benefits through Good Sam/Progressive. The most valuable of these being 100% of purchase price if it’s totaled.

Try Safeco, they are RV insurers located in NJ. They base your insurance on where you live!

We bought our 2020 four winds last fall. Got quotes from USAA, they use progressive. Also Good Sam quoted progressive. Using identical specs with both, Progressive through USAA was 11% less expensive for identical coverage. Having all other insurance with USAA likely effected the price by bundling. I do like progressives coverage if totaled.

I insure mine with Safeco as well. The pricing is a bit high; but everything I insure is with them. It makes it pretty convenient.

Bob, I found it to be just the opposite? I also liked the convenience of paying a 12 month policy, and that could be the reason it’s cheaper!

Each State (and rating territory within it); has their own rates.
I am a licensed Broker that has a huge amount of Safeco business in my Office.
They are a company that does a great job; but they are not for every person and every situation.
Glad that you like them!
