Satellite problems

I recently bought a Dish Tailgater package and have not been able to connect the dish to my tv without running the cable through the open door for window

Satellite antennas require an unbroken path direct to the receiver. The Tailgater is one of those. Unless you have a dedicated satellite connection on the outside, using the cable TV connection goes through a splitter and the receiver can't communicate with the antenna (as it is automatic and requires input from the user/receiver to search for a signal.) You can modify the splitter to work so it does not go through the power booster for the regular antenna. There are several posts on many RV forums about how to do it. An alternative is to just install your own satellite hookup on the outside that runs to your AV location with the receiver.

This is very common, as the 'coax' connection on your RV is not designed to also provide 'return' power to your antenna...therefore, you must go 'direct' with your connection.

The alternative is exactly what I did with our Thor A.C.E. Drilled a 1/2” hole behind the jack knife sofa below the cabinet where the receiver is stored, mounted a cable connection there and ran coax cable out of sight behind the window valance up to the receiver. Modifying the factory antenna connection is a PITA in my humble opinion. Keep it simple!
