thor Aria large slide

Have a Aria 3901 2020, just a short time and whenever I drive through a campground (rough road), the large slide makes a banging sound (like a flash light rolling around). Local dealer says this banging sound is "normal" for a large slide?? Comments?

Welcome to the forum. My slides aren't what I would call large, but they don't make noise. I don't think that's normal, but I'm sure you'll get some answers.

I have same year and model, mine do not make any noise. I feel your pain of being a novice and at the mercy of what the dealership tells you but if something doesn't feel right it's probably not right.

Who at the local dealership said that?
Salesman?
Lot boy?
Receptionist?

Get another opinion from a place far away from there.

The noise being normal, if they didn't tell you what made the noise, they don't know what makes the noise. This means they know not a damn thing.

If you asked, a pro would have told you why.

I’d try to learn more as the owner. Find a road that causes the noise and try to notice what the coach was doing at the time of the noise - front wheels on a bump? Rear wheels? A dip to one side? Things like that. Then either station a clever partner in the coach to try to narrow it down as you drive back and forth on the road causing the problem or have someone else drive while you listen. Does it come from the top of the slide? The bottom? One end? Or maybe it’s something simple under a dinette seat or something. Good luck.

Welcome to our campfire!
Whenever a dealer says, "it's normal", and your gut tells you it isn't...

... it isn't!

No noises like that in our 18 either.

If it rolls, it'll wedge.
If it wedges, it'll blow the slide off the tracks.
If the rolling thing does for you, the good job I would be assured of, it'll rack the slide so bad it'll never go in and the slide will need removed instead. Leaving my rv with a giant hole in it while parked for the winter in the unfenced lot at
Slammin Sammy's Towing and Discount Broasted Chicken Palace in Hooker Hocker Oklahoma,
2500 miles from my home and 200 miles from a mechanic who can spell mechanic.
Reject chickens would roost in my, now laying on its side because the used tires used to prop it up fell over, ruptured slide.

The 'roll call' needs answered before you next put the slide out.

Not normal at all! We have the Aria 4000 and have never heard the slide banging around in transit. As suggested, probably a loose flashlight, piece of tubing, or some other material rolling around. Imperative that you find and remove whatever it is before it causes real trouble.

Just a thought, check the weight on your pull out faucet under the sink. If it's not secured to the wall, I can see (hear) it making sounds like you describe.
