Newbie in Houston, TX

Hi all,

I am a semi-newbie from Houston, TX. I have rented a couple of 26 foot Class C Sunseekers in years past so now I am thinking about owning something a bit more comfortable for us to use. We will be renting a 2016 24.1 Vegas this summer and if we like it we are thinking about buying one (or something similar).

I have made some posts on the iRV2 Forums, but then I saw all the amazing posts by Ed Felker (and his definitive Users' Guide to the Vegas), JamieGeek, and many, many more, and I could not pass up this great source of information. So here I am!

Thank you!

Hi , Eratosthenes
Also living in Houston (Sugar Land). We just took delivery and drove home a new Axis 25.2 last week. Have not made a really long trip yet. We learned a great deal over the last 9 months on this excellent forum that really prepared us for the unit. We would be happy to chat if you would like to hear about our preparatory and buying experience. We have been looking for several years and thought about the short Damon Avanti then the short Newmar Baystar. Initially we saw the Thor Vegas when it first came out and we were not too keen on the 24.1 floorplan because we prefer a real queen bed rather than the "join beds together" approach in the 24.1 floorplan. (There is just the two of us and we don't anticipate having guests travel with us often.) We renewed our interest when we saw the 25.2 floorplan and settled on that. We had many constructive conversations with the Thor customer rep. prior to finalizing our order specifications, then we used an “oilfield style” sealed bid process for our purchase award instead of negotiating with the various dealers. Worked out very well.
Best Regards,
James

Welcome to the forum and Vegas/Axis ownership. There are lots of good folks here to answer your questions and help solve any problems.
