Solo camper, potential Motor Home owner
I'm Janet and I am a solo (with my two dogs) camper. Ten years ago with my husband, we had a 28' class A which I drove most of the time. After he passed I didn't camp, then about 4 years ago I got a teardrop trailer. I love it but I want more room and a few more conveniences. I almost entirely dry camp and will continue that.
I am considering a Freedom Elite 23H. It seems to have everything that I want or need and lots of outside storage for dog pens.
I would appreciate anyone's comments, suggestions, etc.
Thank you very much, I look forward to being an owner soon,
Janet Tehachapi, CA

one thing I realized is everyone has different taste and needs. Sometimes people buy new and have alot of problems, sometimes used and no problems. If your looking at size B or C , look at all of them, if possible rent one. We ended up w a 24' gemini. Going on 3 years. perfect for me the wife and 90lb dog. We boondocked at Walmart, dry camped, stayed at resorts. We learn on every trip. Best advise is get the one u want, then adjust as u go along. plenty of people on this site to help w any problem, as you're going to find out. happy trails and dont forget to show pictures of new rig.

Welcome to our campfire, and remember: most of the fun is in the shopping!
Once you've got the stuff about where you want to go, how much stuff you plan to take with you, and the features that you want: the rest will be easy!

From the Teardrop to a Freedom Elite 23H. The floorplan seems perfect for you! I think you picked a winner! I did have a 24ft Minnie Winnie same floorplan and loved it! Go for it & ENJOY !!

How big are the dogs that you'll be travelling with?
(If you could only get them to share the driving chores with you... )

It would be nice if the dogs would do some of the chores but they haven't learned that yet. My girl, Foxy, is a Border Collie mix about 30 lbs. My boy, Rudy (the Rude Dude) is part terrier and part Chihuahua and about 18 lbs.
Two things that I really like about the 23H is the big storage area and the captain's chair. I also don't want a slide out. I don't need a lot just for myself.
THanks for all help and encouragement, Janet

Welcome to our world! You’ll hear a lot of trash talking here about Thor products but my Freedom Elite needed only a very few minor repairs and adjustments. The model you are looking at is pretty basic and that is certainly a plus from a reliability perspective. I’d recommend doing a super thorough PDI and then jump on in. Enjoy your travels and your dogs. It’s all good

Welcome to the forum!
If you are shopping for a used RV, try www.rvt and www.rvtrader
Part of Ed Felker's excellent crowd sourced manual for Vegas/Axis is a great PreDelivery Inspection outling. There are more good ideas there that apply to most RVs, too.

So many components and functions are similar to MHs and TTs alike and the manual will give you some awareness to much of your rig.

Welcome Janet, I was just thinking about the Gemini and Compass as an alternative that would give better MPG's. Have you looked at any of the B+ RUV's?

Thanks, Rev Jeffrey for pointing out the update to the Felker manual.
In a perfect world, a manual like that would come with every coach. The dealers must hate to see the buyer show up with a PDI checklist like that!
