New Class C RV travel nurse

I purchased a used 2017 freedom elite 29fe. I had a walk through at the dealer and recorded it. I am still truly lost. I went looking for the manual and of course there isn't one. We are headed from Virginia to California starting tomorrow. I have so many questions.

Congratulations and welcome.

Fire away with the questions: Post them all here in a list, or separately in their own topic. Someone will chip in with answers (more than likely lots of people will chip in...).

Have you taken the rig out for a weekend shakedown yet?

Everyone's been in your position before with a "new to them" RV. We've all lived through it and you couldn't find a better place to get help. The key is in asking your question by providing enough information and you've started in the right direction with your coach information. You wouldn't believe how many people leave that information out.

We’ve had our Freedom Elite 30FE for about a year and a half. We’ve learned a lot.
Feel free to ask any questions and we and others will be happy to assist.

Thank you all so much. I appreciate the support. I have not taken the rig out for a weekend. We are leaving today headed to California. I start work on January 6th.

I'm going to be honest with you. There are things that need to be learned if you have never owned a RV, that you don't want to learn on the road.

But if there,s no other way, As mentioned, go to the Thor owners website at https://www.thormotorcoach.com/owners/ input your vin number and you should find the manuals for your motorcoach. Read them as you are driving off, but before you go at least

1. fill the potable water tank (this is water used on board to take showers, flush the toilet and wash things in the sink. DO NOT DRINK this water as I'd guess your tanks have not been sanitized in a while. Bring your own drinking water.)

2. fill the propane tank (Propane is used to run the fridge while driving, run the heater and run the stove and oven. Make sure your propane leak sensors are working correctly.)

3. fill the gas tank. (That's obvious but gas also runs your onboard generator.)

4. Have the basic supply's needed like a 30 amp power cord, sewage dump tube and clean water drinking hose. All can be bought at Walmart.)

We are here to help.

Jeff

Soooo many resources to help you

On of the things you will learn as an RV owner is that it pays to be proactive. This is true for trip planning (book places early), maintenance (an ounce of prevention...) and learning.

In addition to this forum - which is more reactive - go to youtube and search on first time rv and you will find a wealth of information; including a lot of videos showing common mistakes. Better to learn from other peoples' mistakes than making them yourself.

You will also find a lot of resources on what you need for your RV. The prior comment on a fresh water hose (add a regulator and a filter); a good sewer connection hose (dont be cheap here); a good electrical line (not sure if you need 30 or 50 amp) along with a surge protector.

Also get friendly with your neighbor's at campsites - most will be happy to give you the benefit of their knowledge.

Good luck - do as much research as you can, and be proactive and cruising will be much smoother.

Parking

The easiest way to park your RV in the site is to stay at the camp registration. Have your wife drive to the site and appear dumbfounded. There were be at least 10 guys willing to park it for her
