Tire Advice for newbies, please😊😊😊😊

Hello, fellow Thor owners !
My husband and I just purchased a 2017 Thor Four Winds 31l motorhome. (Very excited!) We would like to put all new tires on her, but are at a loss as to what kind of tires we need. We have “Googled” until we are “Googled” out ! Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Many thanks in advance 😊😊😊😊😊😊

What tires are on the RV now; Make and Size, likely OEM?
How many miles on them?
What is you reason for wanting new? Any concerns with current tires?

Once you get past that, you need to think of who and where will mount and balance the tires. What are they saying and recommending?

If it were me, and for simplicity I stick with the OEM brand and make. They gonna be expensive to replace 6 no matter what you buy anyway.

I have Goodyear G670s 23,000 miles in 3 years. I hope to get at least 8 years and 65,000 miles. I hope to replace when date code says it is time.

Good luck

You should get the coach weghed with your typical travel load first. But based on my experience the stock tires are likely up against their weight limits….. plus the stock LT tires are not designed to carry heavy loads full-time. LT tires are designed for pickup trucks where you load the bed with mulch and then unload it…. veruz driving around with a full load every day.

I would invest in a C-Type Tire like a Nexen Rodian or Goodyear Fortitude that has a higher load rating and designed to carry heavy loads all the time.

I think your 31 four winds on e450 chassis with 16" wheels.

I have a 2016 vegas with oem Michelic M/S 2 tires that were produced in march 2015. I replaced at x-mas 2020 due to age/sitting/cracks at edge of tread. Went with Nexxan Rosian omercial rib tires with higher weight rating.

The rib much smoother on road, handling same. I tow an open racecar trailer most of the time so want to prevent tire issues on road.

If the tires, light weight or not, have lasted 30,000 miles without a worry, there is no reason other than new, none before reasons, to change brands or specify specific tire type.

I know we all have our favorites.
Ask your tire guy which has the least trouble for the rv installs he's done and buy those.

Local support is going to be important.
You supporting locally might be important.

Punchline:
Too many choices, too many voices.

Safety first
Is hogwash.

Safety is second.
The job/availability is first.

If the tires are over five years old have them inspected by a professional tire technician and talk to them and not the self proclaimed experts on any forum.
