Today is the Big Day!

Hi everyone;

I want to thank everyone for their warm wishes & good advice regarding my walk thru & pick up today.

I thought of something else that I hope y'all could help with; the dealer doesn't provide the hoses & slinky, etc, so I have to buy it. I'm not sure what I must have versus what they may wish to sell me.

I have basic everyday vehicle tools & emergency equipment for my suv, but not big rig or rv specific gear. My emergency road gear & my medic gear certainly translates, but not much else I imagine.

Can anyone help me out with a fairly economical list of items worth purchasing before I leave the dealership?

Thanks again to everyone!

You must be getting pretty excited!
Water hoses: get yourself a hose for drinking water. They sell them marked specifically for that purpose.
(You'll also need a hose for washing stuff down, but that can be purchased just about anyplace...)
The Slinky...
I assume that you've got the lug-style connector: any hose equipped with the same connectors will fit...
If you buy a hose kit: make sure that you've got a 80 degree fitting with it. That's the one that connects into any campsite sewer system.
I bought one of the sewer hose "cradles", that sort of helps you keep a proper downward angle from the rig to the sewer system: it has served me well.
The rig should of course come with the correct power cord for hooking up to "shore power". You shouldn't need anything extra for that...
Let us know how the delivery experience goes, and good luck!

Make them give them to you...every "camper" I've ever bought came with a starter kit which included the hoses, water hose, roll of TP, toilet chemicals, etc. You'll want to upgrade the slinky very soon from the cheap one they give you but it;s better than nothing...I got the Rhino which works well. Cheap bastards!!

You will need a min. of 15 ft. sewer hose kit which will have most of the fittings to do a dump. I would get the HD kit and also a 10 ft. extension hose as some of the older campgrounds have the dump inlet a bit far out. Also, a water hose or two. A water press. regulator and a filter. You can get most of these at a big box store or home improvement store at a better price than a camping store.

I see that you have some great advice and info from others on the forum and hope all goes smoothly on your sale and first outing.
Happy trails.

I would order rv items from Amazon, alot cheaper, toilet paper, chemicals, drain hose water hose(make sure you get an RV rated fresh water hose, less chemicals in it) separate hose for cleaning your holding tanks, I attach a water filter to my fresh water hose, will need a regulateor, water pressure should be around 40lb, I paid a little more for mine and I can adjust the pressure manually. If you have a slide out, keep some silcon lube on hand, every once and awhile give it a shot.. congratulations have fun

All of the above items. You will also need black and gray water treatment. If your RV doesn't have a built in black water clean-out, you will need something like the Camco swivel stick. I would also suggest shore line adapters so you can plug into 15-20amp,30amp,or 50amp service.

First off, THANK YOU for your service to our nation! And, glad you made it home!
Is this a brand new coach you are getting? If so,(even if it isn't) for sure get them to throw in a starter kit as mentioned. With all the electronics in the new coaches, get a surge/ polarity protector. (when budget allows) This one on Ebay is 10 bucks cheaper than Amazon.

Same experience for me; including used RVs.

Well, hopefully the deal is done and all went well. A couple other things you will need are a "good" water pressure regulator and a few of these better "Ace" cam locks for you storage hatches. A cheapie regulator will get you by for now if budget is tight. First and foremost... don't sweat some of this small stuff! These are mostly "insurance" down the road for trouble free RV living.

She's probably locked inside the coach, can't get out and realizing how serious we were when we said..."you are nothing to them once you hand over the check".

Well, I made it outta the rig - but resistance is definitely futile - I've been back 3 times for leaks & will be returning for more issues in a couple of weeks! By the way, in my family I'm literally "six-of-nine", I'm not cool enuf to be "seven-of-nine" (so my next youngest sister tells me, lol!). You guys are hillarious!!! I'm so sorry I dropped of the edge of the earth on my walk thru day, but reading all the posts since I recovered a small slice of my sanity (not that I had mch beforehand to recover...) regarding what my disappearance portended has been great fun!
