What Fun - and thank you
We're on our third trip in an RV - a Vegas 24.1. All the important things fit inside: us, a pet dog, and a service dog (all masters at sleeping). All the important things fit on the back: A tandem and singles, and we have started to explore our new home state of Washington - what an amazing place.
And thank you to the folks on this forum - it has been a great help going from neophyte to newbie. Between the upgrade suggestions, and the how-to-fix posts, we seem to be starting out OK.
It seems like infinite opportunities in exploring the Pacific Northwest - we are really looking forward to it all.
Renee, Andy, & Pedro

Check out Lake Pleasant, Bothell, WA ... it is north of Seattle, nestled in the hill about 2 miles off the Interstate. We stayed there several days last June...an older campground, well kept and nice folks. Good walking around their small lakes.

Thanks - we will do that. We are busy exploring everywhere. Compared to the East coast, there are so many places to go.

Well that's just about home for us - we're on Whidbey island. Love the moniker - in our case it's from bicycling.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but noticed you're from Whidbey Island!
Hubby's brother lives in Oak Harbor and we'd like to make a trip up to see him. I've been searching for RV parks/campgrounds in the area, but can't seem to find much. Any recommendations? We have a 29' Class A.
Thanks!

RV parks near Oak Harbor
Hi Eileen:
There are 3 RV parks near Oak Harbor. The only one we've stayed at is in Coupeville: Fort Casey state park. It's located right on the water, with fantastic biking right out the door. It's about 10 miles from Oak Harbor. The other one I know of, but we've never stayed at is Staysail RV park. This is located right in the middle of Oak Harbor - on the water, in a city park, and a block from the city center. That's where I would stay to visit Oak Harbor.
Regards,
Andy

Hi Andy,
Thank you so much! This is very helpful info, and we will certainly check out Ft. Casey - it sounds wonderful! We love the state parks here in AZ that accommodate RVs, and prefer them over the resort-style parks if we have the choice.
Thanks again for the great information!
Eileen

Hi Andy ! We have life long friends who live in Tacoma and have a home on Lake Washington...last June we stayed in Bothel at Lake Pleasant which is right off the freeway...but, have wanted to see that NW area of WA for many years. I am going to checkout the places you have listed and then some...we may need to make a trip back up there next summer !!
It is right at 1500 miles to Seattle area for us...plus the side excursions we build into that trip. Love it...beautiful country between here n there...have done that trip several different ways !
If you have any other suggestions...please! Send all info this direction for all of us !!
Happy day ! Kay
Oak Harbor ... OK...went to Google !! ha ! It is on Whidbey Island...so one must come via the hiway/bridge north of Seattle or ferry. Will research that further.

if you drive around and not take the ferry. there are RV parks in Anacortes WA and two at deception pass. I am taking my Vegas on its first trip since purchasing earlier this month. I will be likely staying at Deception Pass State Park. Enjoy WA

Hi Ron & Kay:
We're brand new at this ourselves, and for the most part we've been exploring the Cascades - just because of the amazing scenery, great biking, and warm spring weather.
However, if you like quaint somewhat touristy cities, Port Townsend is just a ferry ride away from Whidbey island. The RV park itself (Point Hudson RV park - city owned) is nothing to write home about - just a big gravel lot - but with great views of the water and mountains, and a short walk to the middle of everything.
-Andy

Congratulations. Dogs and bikes, doesn't get much better than that.
That's a nice Co-Motion. How does it ride back there? I can't quite make out the bike carrier brand -- anything you can share on that would be appreciated. Our first tandem rode horizontally just above our Class C's bumper height and it got pretty dirty on longer road trips. Your upright rack looks like it may help keep tandem much cleaner. Is that the case?

I LOVE the Deception Pass area!! My dad used to live in Port Angeles so we'd go visit him and do some tripping around the area (no RV).
One time we walked part way out on the bridge over the pass - SCARY and bad idea!! When big trucks went by we felt like we were going to get hit with their mirrors! Stunning scenery, though!
Am going to check out the campgrounds in that area for a future visit to Whidbey Island!
