Spring Hanger Issue

So this happened. Driving winding Highway 1 north of Bodega Bay pulling our 2014 RV Cruiser R-22RBDS, probably the 18th-20th time doing so, we experienced catastrophic failure of the frame/spring hangers (my guess). The entire trailer cab dropped down onto all 4 tires, with the failure shifting cab left towards driver side tires. The result was an immediate smoking from the tires. This is a very narrow winding stretch of highway that at times is 400’ above the Pacific Ocean. There are almost no turnouts on this stretch. We were able to find one pullout to confirm there was no fire but it was a dangerous place to be. We drove a little further to pull into a State Park museum to figure out what was going on. All 4 tires had 1” wide strips missing due to the cab sitting on them, that’s why you buy 10-ply tires on RV’s, but they didn’t fail. That would have been an even bigger problem. If you can see in the pictures the bending, twisting of the frame and movement of the spring hangers (if I am correctly identifying those parts).

Has anyone ever heard of this happening?
