Vent covers melting

While taking off the cover on my motorhome, I noticed that all 3 of the vent covers (not the ones you crank up)were distorted. They look as they are melted. Has anyone else experienced this and know what causes them to melt. I only had the (new) cover on for about 3 weeks. I live in sunny and hot North Carolina. Thanks for your replies.

Are you talking about the vent covers that crank open or the ones that we call "rain vent covers"?
