What is the accepted way to hook up a back feed generator temporarily?

Hi Bill,
If you just called me a "nit-wit": you might be more accurate than you think...
But I've still got to take some offense to the term.
How about:
"Unskilled arc-welder"
"Amateur arsonist"
or even
"Powercord terrorist"
(I like the third one the best...

Male on one end female on other. OR consult a local expert and have a small transfer switch installed to handle the desired loads. A "motor base" outlet is a recessed male 120v-15 or 20 amp, that will accept the "hot" female to power such, as one option.
Good luck with your choice.

We bought a jump starter and DC power source because we went totally dead in the water this past summer. We were able to just plug into my friends garage outlet and we were up and running. We thought this power source would work same as regular house outlet but we just did a test and did not work.
Was this a bad idea or maybe we got a bad power source?

That's a jump starter pack with the capability of powering some DC loads for a short period or some AC loads (up to 200 watts) for an even shorter period.

Plugging your RV into it will instantly overload the 200 watt built-in inverter.
200 watts will not power your fridge
200 watts will not power your converter/battery charger if your RV batteries are even slightly discharged
And 200 Watts will not even cause your Air Conditioner or Microwave to blink (except for the LED display on the microwave).

I bought one of these:

I tested on my Outlaw, and it would start the big V-10 without any problems at all.

There is no "battery in a box" solution that will run your RV for any period of time: you have a generator for that.

If you want a smaller quieter generator to charge your batteries and maybe run your fridge (but not the Air Conditioning or microwave or electric water heater) take a look at the one I posted in #13 of this thread.

My Rugged Geek is only meant for getting the chassis motor back up and running. Once you get some power back up: you need to get your generator back online...

You attach to house batteries, right? Our chassis battery is almost impossible to get to.
Thanks
Sorry for all the questions, appreciate your recommendations. Only 9 months in, lots to learn.

If that's what you can get to...
Hook it to the Coach batteries, and get your generator running.
That should also send some charge back up to the chassis battery also.
(At least it might... )
Worst case scenario: you'll still have to get to the chassis battery, and hook up to that also.

No, you use your AC adapters to plug in your SP cord to the generator.
