12 volt golf cart battery

We own a Thor ACE 30.1 and were wanting to do more Boondocking and want to up grade to golf cart batteries to increase amp hours. I understand they make a 12 volt golf battery now and thought it may serve us better to put a couple of those in instead of the 6 volt veriety. Any thoughts or suggestions?

There are 12 volt deep cycle batteries but they are harder to find and last time I looked, were a little more expensive than two 6 volt deep cycle batteries of the same AH rating. They also weigh a lot more than a single 6 volt battery so that makes them harder to handle.

Two 12v deep cycle marine batteries, the kind used for trolling motors. Using 12v batteries will be less complicated than 6v, you could supplement with roof mounted or portable solar panels.

Most deep cycle marine batteries are dual-use batteries used for starting engines, so they are not true deep cycle batteries like golf cart batteries are. They also have no where near the amp-hours of true deep cycle batteries.

Batteries

There is at least one other thread on this topic where it is discussed by many with many opinions. We went from two 12 volt garbage house batteries to two 6 volt AGM Lifetime brand batteries. I won't go into the detail why we made the change but I will say that on our Axis, we had to turn them on their sides to make them fit without doing a lot more fabrication. So far so good. Oh yeah, we had to replace the 12 volt starting battery before that because the factory unit was crap before it was two years old.

We took out the 2 cheap 12 v batteries, from our chateau 35sk, under the steps. And installed 2 12 v golf cart GC12, part no. T1275, 155ah, they just fit. In the spring I will be installing a battery rack in a compartment. And most likely add more of those GC12s. They work and charge great.
