16june16 update ace/axis/vegas outside heater door defect

TO ALL,

Please take time to review the above listed thread. I did and as of this morning I received the following from Thor: "From your picture it looks like this is the old style door, I request you take it to your local Thor Dealer and have them change this for you, have them order and install the new style, I have put notes in the file about this and we will take care of it for you."
No sense rewriting the entire thread listed in the Title of this one, so please read thru that thread to see if this applies to your unit.

Doc

My 2015 Vegas 24.1 has the louvers to the right of the exhaust and they are vertical rather than horizontal.

Doc...as you may have noticed in my photo..yesterday..our door has NO louvres.. Did Thor show you which door is correct ?

In addition...I think you have the Safe T Plus installed...having done research..and contacted them directly..they recommend model #31-140 .. we are on the E450 chassis...however, according to their pdf file .. this is correct, and a confirmation email from them as well.

Thank you Kay

That is the same as ours, except the install is vertical on the 24.1.

But are they punched to allow water to come in or keep it out?

Ron sez...hmmm where do I begin !!
His first question..is the trailer setup for hauling a motorcycle?
Here is what you need.
a front wheel chock (Ron has 3, center one is for the dresser)
6 D rings mounted in floor (3 for each side of motorcycle) (Harbor Freight has D rings w/700 lb rating each $3 for 2)
Good quality ratchet tie downs
He, also, bought a trailer dolly..he built a bracket in the nose of our trailer to hang it on...the dolly was worth its weight on the recent trip. We had to disconnect from the Axis and maneuver the trailer into its spot.
The chock he got for the dresser and the dolly came from Harbor Freight. This chock, less than $50 has served us well on a number of trips. (previous trailer 6x12)
For the other motorcycle, (his dual sport), the chock 'screws' against the tire and he has had them for so long he doesn't remember where he got them.
He has, also, used this chock for the dresser.

He, also, put up a couple hangers for jackets, etc.

Our trailer is V nose so,up front under where he mounted the dolly, he stows misc. stuff and he sets his tool box there.

Thanks Ron I should have been more specific. Not new to motorcycles have worked for Harley for 20 years. Just new to having a motor home to pull the bike and trailer. Will be hauling 1 bike and using a Condor chock. Just wondering if there was anything special I needed to know about towing with the Axis. Thanks for all you help and info.

Good morning ! Ron sez no problem !
We have a Stealth trailer .
Regarding the Axis..he used a 3 inch drop and with that it still sits a bit high, but pulls well...easy to forget it is back there. We check with the rear camera occasionally to make sure it is there! And, since you are seasoned in trailer use, you know to check it every chance you get.

Have fun ! The Axis is awesome !

Doc/Mike ! I need to pick your brains....we are headed out in a week..first destination is Louisville...from there ultimately to Lakeland, FL (family 4th of July)
...we do not want to go through Nashville & Atlanta, again !!
So, if we head east...trying to stay off Interstates as much as possible...we are not sure what we want to do...from what you have posted, there are many RV parks in the eastern states...correct....we don't want to go through Knoxville/Pidgeon Forge area...been there this time of year...want to avoid that zoo !
Thinking about heading towards Jacksonville area...then across to Lakeland.
Any thoughts ? I know you get out and travel your area alot.

Thank you Kay

Kay,

I-40 out of the NC mountains thru Waynesville towards Asheville lots of RV parks and great scenery.

Or if you are avoiding Highways look up "Moonshiner 28" on the computer. It comes out of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park at the TN/NC border ("Tail of the Dragon" for motorcycle types is a big hit). Travel along highway 28 (lots of things to see) into Franklin NC down to Highlands NC (Highland Brewery there) then into Walhalla Georgia.

Doc,

How do I get to the thread you mention? When I use the search feature it just brings me back to this discussion.
