2013 hurricane slide problem
bought a new Thor Hurricane 32A. I am having a slide problem, and was wondering if anyone else was having the same problem. I put the slide in and go on the road...after a bit, maybe 30 minutes, right behind the drivers seat on the upper rail...it starts this unbelievably loud squeaking or popping sound like something is loose. Has anyone has this problem?

An update...Thor is sending 2 new higher torque motors. They say the lower torque probably isn't holding the slide in well enough. So, we shall see. I will have to say that Thor is very good at communication with owners, and want's us happy again! Another update after the install.

Another update the two new notors were installed and the tech said the noise was worse....not liking how this is playing out....called dealer and expressed my frustrations, not at his techs, but at Thor not knowing how to fix this...first it was shim it here, then new motors, wonder what today will bring?

Sounds like you will have to load up on patience.
It's to bad they put a product on the market like that. I hope things straighten out for you pretty soon.

We bought a 2012 Daybreak and our slide out broke, it would not close, had to get a mechanic to our campsite to disengage motor and hand slide it in. The motors were defective and when we took it to the dealer, there were multiple Thor motorcoaches there getting the motors replaced.
We have had 9 repair orders written on this unit since April. MULTIPLE PROBLEMS!!!

Having to deal with that many QC problems gets disheartening in a hurry. When you see that many units sitting in the shop waiting to get the same problems fixed---------

slide problem
I am now feeling confident that Thor will do everything possible to correct the problem. the communication is very good between customer and Thor...better than I expected. And, they are actually sending a tech to work on it at my house today...he was in the area and they called to see if it was ok...I naturally said yes!!
I will post after today and let you know what transpired. Wish me luck! to answer your question...I think Thor stands behind their units, and diligently want happy customers...which means a lot to me.

Just wanted to let you know, the slide problem was just one of many problems we have had with our Daybreak. As of today, it has been in the shop 88 days from when we bought it last November. It has been in the shop this time since July 11 and I haven't heard a word out of the dealership. I have a lawyer claiming lemon law now. It is just a shame...We need another RV since we travel back and forth to FLA with our dogs and motorcycle trailer. Now I don't know if I trust Thor products. I would like to trade out of it to an Outlaw, toyhauler but I'm nervous.

Does Thor use the Schwintek slide system on your coaches? If that's whats on there they're giving a lot of people a big headache. After they went to that system from the rack and pinion, nothing but complaints about them on the crossroads forum.

Do we get Thor factory responses from their product specialists on issues such as we're discussing on these posts (i.e. the slides)? Just wondering.......

We have a 2014 Four Winds Super C 33SW and are also having major problems with the Schwintek slide system along with many other components. We have owned this unit since June 29th and have only had it in our possession for 6 days. Very disgusted as this unit has now had 1/4 of it's factory warranty spent in the shop. Has not been a pleasant experience so far from Camping World or Thor. All we seem to get are condescending answers. We have made 3 payments, 1/4 of our license fees have been wasted, we've paid 3 months of covered storage where the unit not there, and paid 3 months of insurance with no ability to enjoy it. That's not to even mention the $4,200 of extras we invested in when we purchased it. Extremely unhappy with Thor and Camping World.

As I'm prone to allow my alligator mouth to override my canary backside, I've sat silent for quite some time. Have been following this thread, and after the last several post, thought it was time to say something. Same song, second verse with my Daybreak 34XD. Schwintek slide being the greater problem among other problems. Ours has been in shop for 119 days straight out of the 136 days I've owned it. Unhappy does not describe what I feel. Not happy with selling dealership or Thor.

The way I have heard, Lippert has a video on their web site for the Schwintek slide. Some have said it's very helpful and informative. You might want to check it out.

Thanks, I'll have to check that out. I would appear that several of the major brands are moving that direction as it is purported to be a much cheaper system to build and install. I understand that the system is already on generation 3 of modifications. I've seen it on Winnebago and Itasca brands this past week.

We have the schwintek system on our 5th wheel we are trading in on our Redwood - it's a 'super-slide' of sorts in that it moves the king bedroom side and double sink vanity side all together...
when we first got it the slide would get out of sync just about every other time we brought it in... after 3 trips I took it back to the dealer and said you can have it...
Thank goodness we had a great dealer and they worked with the schwintek people to put in higher torque motors, was much better, but still would get out of sync...
they then figured out that the slide opening was less than a 1/4 inch too narrow for the slide itself and that caused the out of sync condition.... Happy to report it's been in an out over 100 times the last year and never an issue...
Not that we care as consumers, we just want it to work, but MOST of the issues with the system are mfg installation issues... good luck and ask them to exactly measure the slide opening...

What size are these slides that are giving everyone trouble? We have our first RV with a slide and it is from Schwintek. Ours includes the dinette and the wardrobe cabinets with over head storage cabinetry. It has worked fine the few times we have used it empty. Now leaving for our first road trip (8000 miles) and have the RV packed out. I did notice in the few times we have had it out that it sounds laboring coming back in but does retract itself straight. Shwintek has a Utube video on repairing this slide. Here is the link:
there are other videos from them on various things that could be of interest in the side bar FWIW.
Hope we do not have a problem with this unit. Have had enough issues with this new 24c right from the get go!
