2013 Thor Windsport

I just need to vent a little. We bought a new Windsport in June of 2013. We had so much trouble with it and even had to threaten going through the Texas lemon law to get the slides worked on. Anyway, my big complaint today is who are the jokers that design these motorhomes? Don,t they ever walk through them? Try going to the bathroom when someone has the door closed to the bedroom? How stupid is this? Now open the closet door in the bedroom nearest the door? Be careful because the thermostat is right in the way and if you are not careful, you will break the mirror. One of our service reps can attest to that. Now all they had to do was position it 6 inches over to the right where the wall is recessed. We have given up on trying to keep the shower door in its tracts. Lots of things we don't like about Thor but guess we live with what we have.
Thanks for listening.

Manufacturers build what most people will buy, not what's necessarily best for them. My guess is that design is driven more by marketing perceptions than anything else. Aesthetic appeal seems more important than long-term functionality, durability, cost of ownership, required maintenance, etc.

In that light, I'm not sure if most RV designers are that incompetent, or if they are doing exactly what they are being asked to do -- create a product someone will buy.

I have to agree with Chance, when you look at so many different floor plans, we sometimes get confused and star struck. often people buy on impulse and then later realize there needs are more, less, etc. I personally looked for my unit for 6 months and when I found what I wanted I bought it. I now have no complaints with my coach or Rv Connection which by the way is a super dealer in Panama City Fl.
I'm sorry that people have so many problems and concerns, the manufacturers' are putting together new units at a rapid pace.
just my 2 cents!

I was at the local Ford Dealership. On the showroom floor was a well detailed, bright, shiney, clean - not a piece of dust on it - 2017 Shelby Cobra 500 Convertible with all the bells and whistles...for $69K sticker price. Next to it was a Roush Conversion Convertible no sticker (I guess if you have to ask you can't afford it).

For a two door sports car at that kind of money you get that level of attention to detail.

Not sure what others paid for their RV, but my Vegas was right at that number and it has a lot more than two doors. It is true that our first 5 months were a bit annoying with multiple trips to the shop, parts, one recall, bad batteries and some warranty work. BUT, thanks to a very good CW Dealership in Statesville, we got thru it, got the Unit up and running and the past 7 months have been fun.

Hang in there.

Doc

2013 Windsport

We do love to travel and have put over 20,000 miles on the unit since we bought it. It is usable and we like a lot of it. This was our 5th motorhome and we thought we knew what we wanted, LOL. Just didn't look deep enough because who would have designed a closet door with a mirror to open into the thermostat on the wall? that's just not paying attention to what they are doing. We have had company with us and never realized there was a problem getting into the restroom when the bedroom door is closed. They have to step in to the shower stall then open the door to the restroom. There again, just poor planning. Works just fine if there is just the two of us. Happy trails.
